Fujiko entered the theater and shook off the drops on her umbrella. Walking further in, she looked around but didn't see her fellow play enthusiast from the previous day.

He's probably just late, she thought as she grabbed a seat and reserved one next to her for him.

"Oh, I can't wait to see what the story will be today!" she enthusiastically said to herself.

In the meantime, her eyes wandered around until they found some beautiful lady with a colorful bird.

Oh, my, she thought. What is it with these beautiful ladies and their birds? Should I get one for Koi-nee-sama?

Hikimasu would have his seat before the play, just before. He did cast a lingering look as the lights dimmed in Emiko's direction. He'd come here now three nights in a row and not asked her. He wondered if he'd be able to.

He bowed and sat next to Fujiko. "Good evening, Kaikoga-san."

"Good evening Matsu-sama! I hope you are well, a long way from Kyuden Hida also" she smiled "I am Usogawa Emiko. You were hoping to introduce yourself? That sounds like you know of me, I have spoken to quite a few of your kin though."

"The Otter seem to be here in force, Usogawa-sama," he says with a small, polite smile. "And I was largely unfamiliar with your clan until very pleasant conversation with Usogawa Narumi-san. So pleasant that it seems I should meet more of you," he says warmly, though his expression remains quite stoic.

"I was usually picked last for kemari no matter how good I got", he said with a nervous chuckle. "So i try not to bother with it too much. Other than that I was well. I hope the same to be true or better for you."

"I believe the less is said about today's test, the better it is." She let out a long sigh. "Hopefully tomorrow will go better."

"Ah, hai. There is quite a few of us, and Narumi-san is wonderful" Emiko said with a few nods "she's going to be a very good nakodo I think. She cares a lot, and is very good with details. I must say I've enjoyed speaking with Kitsu Murato-sama and Kitsu Moshumaru-sama. Both seem very artistic, which is something the Otter rate very highly being performers ourselves."

After a brutal verbal tirade unleashed by Hida Yoshio at Otomo Shinichi, Shinichi's heart nearly fails and he is left under a doctor's care as Yoshio stomps back to Kyuden Hida.

Shinichi's daughter, Harukichi, has always been spoiled, and never set a dainty foot outside of the capital. However, after her father's collapse, she makes a vow to set things to right. Not by seeking revenge, but by travelling to Kyuden Hida and teaching Yoshio proper etiquette, "for that is NOT the way the Otomo are spoken to."

During their time together while Yoshio does learn to reign in his temper around "proper company" a bit, Harukichi learns a great deal about the devotion the Crab truly have to the Empire. Slowly, but surely the two fall for one another.

Emiko frowned a little at the play, but quickly recovered to her usually polite smiling face. She tried to be respectful, but it really seemed quite poor compared to the first night.

A shame, they do seem to be going downhill

After, though, he answers: "I'm participating in the miai. And I might like to get to know you a bit better, if you're willing."
