(D1, LE) Musical Evening

[Kitsu Murato]

With the more complex flute piece he figured that less was more, so he accompanied with a galloping beat with a scale in the same pitch as her chords. But during his playing he inserted small taps on the body of the instrument to simulate a minor taiko accompaniment. It worked, and complimented, but didn't completely match the skill.

Still, he seemed pleased with his efforts and he smiled widely at Emiko's playing.

When Emiko finally finished the peace, she took a few moments again to catch her breath and bowed to the man.

"Kitsu-sama is quite good. I think you underrate your abilities" she said after catching her breath "how long have you played again?"

[Kitsu Murato]

He returned the bow.

"For about 6 years," he replied. "I only started during my time at the Ikoma dojo. You play as though you've been doing so sine you were very young though. As though it is as natural as walking."

[Usogawa Emiko]

"It is as natural as swimming" Emiko said with a chuckle "I've played since I was about seven years old, so a long time. I spent longer playing my lute, although I don't have that anymore" she looked to the box for a moment before shaking her head and smiling "I quite enjoy my flute. It used to be my mothers."

[Kitsu Murato]

"It certainly shows. It's a great privilege to get the chance to play with you."

He looked to the box as well.

"You suggested that what is in there would not be appropriate. But if you didn't want it here you probably wouldn't have brought it," he said with a smirk. "If you don't bring it out I'll just be left with curiosity and disappointment."

Emiko closed her eyes.

He's right, but I know he'll look down upon it.

"...Will you close your eyes and listen?" She opened her eyes, looking at Murato.

"That is fine, if you truly wish it. But I suspect you are more concerned than you need be. I've seen things far more offensive to the senses than you could likely cause," he says with a reassuring smile, before closing his eyes.

Emiko nodded, although the man has his eyes closed, and rose to take out the instrument from the box. She took a few steps away and brought the violin to her neck, then began to play.

The sound would be unlike anything Murato had ever heard - a gaijin instrument, that carried emotion so well through the garden.

He listened for a short period, trying to get a feel for the instrument. It was like a kokyu, but far more complex and with a greater range.

After some bars he began a repeating, lilting pattern. Soft with space between the notes.

He wasn't sure why she thought the instrument was not a good thing, but he couldn't see it either. Maybe it was made from the bones of her enemies? He really did not know what to picture.

Eventually the playing slowed to a stop, and Emiko sighed softly then smiled.

"Thank you Kitsu-sama."
