(D1, ME) Everyone wants to be a Sailor (Play)

[Kakita Sakura]

The little Otter wasn't going to miss a play. Otters love plays!

She made her way to the theater, entering and giving a smile and bow to those she passed. She had paused though, not sure where she should go.

A quick squeeze to her arm from Nanami alerts Sakura to the approaching arrival- and a few more squeezes in a pattern alert her as to who it is. After a moment, the Crane turns to face Emiko as she passes, smiling warmly. “Usogawa-sama, it is a pleasure to see you again.”

[Kitsu Murato]

The Kitsu arrives stepping in from the darkness outside, the light of the interior causing his orange eyes to flash as he crosses the threshold from shadow to light. Those eyes look around at the gathered people that were apparently clumping and Murato, wanting a bit more personal space, moves to find a seat without too many people around. He nods to those he's met and those he hasn't alike, though if anyone wished to converse they would need to separate from the mass of others. He wasn't uncomfortable in crowds, but he was far more comfortable outside of them.

[Kaito Oubaihime]

Oubaihime went to the theater wearing her typical clothes. She had being busy this day and wanted to rest her mind. So a play might be the best way to do so.

She looked around and wondered where to sit...Perhaps besides Shiba sama.... he always look like he doesn't have many friends... or maybe that samurai over there... And Kakita sama seemed to have found another friend.... I hope that Samurai with Matsu sama has a bit of luck. Oh... I should be friendly with every one

She stood there for a while thinking where to sit wondering who to befriend.

[Matsu Ishioka]

It had all seemed to happen so fast, going from a lone Lion staring at the board to...

As he looks to the source of the sound, there is merely Sakura standing there, a pleasant smile on her face- and next to her a peasant, guiding the blindfolded Crane.

Plays are an uncommon treat in Yasu's little corner of the Wastes, so she's planning to catch as many as she can while here. Her footsteps are not loud, but someone of her stature and connection to the earth is hardly able to be silent.

After a glance at the play advertisement she offers short bows to the assembled samurai. "Matsu-san! I hadn't expected to see you here. New assignment ahead then? And greetings to you, Crane-sama, planning to attend the play? Something about sailing, it seems."

Unperturbed by any of it, Ishioka had given an appraising look at Sakura and her assistant, nodded respectfully at Yasu, and as the conversation started to swirl a bit, he awaited a polite moment to introduce himself to those who didn't already know: "Matsu Ishioka, nikutai, Lion embassy security detail at Kyuden Hida."

To Yasu, he added as something of an aside, "This play raises many questions. I do not believe that everyone wants to be a sailor, for example."

[Kitsu Moshumaru]

The appearance of the Obituarian was almost theater-like in itself, emerging from the shadows as if he had arrived from sakkaku itself. His deep topaz yakuta was what gave this effect, almost melding him into the shadows himself. Even once he had emerged, it almost looked as if the lanterns overhead were ignoring him for some reason.

There was certainly quite a crowd gathered - some he recognized, some he didn't. Some he was glad weren't present. If this play went anything like the last recital he went to...

[Usogawa Emiko]

"Oh, Kakita-sama" Emiko bowed to the woman, and gave her a smile "I hope you are well. Are you looking forward to the performance?"

[Kuni Yasu]

"Kakita Sakura, student to the Kakita Duelling Academy. Likewise, and I suspect you are correct, Kuni-san."

Sakura's smile is more subtle than Yasu's, gentler- but still, there's a touch of sincerity and warmth to it. "Indeed, and a lesson valuable to more than simply research."

Sakura can't see, but her servant surely will, the lift of darkly painted eyebrows at the announcement that Sakura was a duelist. "Huh, I guess it is. I think a blind duelist would be the perfect candidate for a fortune of discarded expectations. I'm pleased to meet her." The bemused smile might be heard, somewhat, in her words.

"Certainly not me. I get dehydrated way too easily on the sea. Rivers don't have so constant a wind tearing at you." Her scarlet smile is familiar, the faint blush painted across the bridge of her nose and cheeks is new since they'd chatted the previous year. "And I guess you aren't here because you've suddenly got a great need to marry into a seafaring clan? But I'll bet everyone in the play is in love with the waves, neh?"

She looks him up and down once, "you've been doing well this past year, or at least you look well. Have you seen Aiko or Hinoto since last summer? I know they had a rotation scheduled round the new year." There was really only one duty rotation that was ever referred to simply as that in Crab lands, and that was the ever present movement of fresh troops to replace weary ones on the Wall.

[Usogawa Narumi]

The Otter Narumi made an entrance to the theatre and stepped to the side of the doorway, taking a long moment to look around and find where she might fit in. She was looking forward to watching the play, to be sure, as they were a treat she enjoyed on occasion.

The stony quality of Ishioka's face flickers as his eyebrows rise in response to the compliment -- or innocent small talk -- and he turns to speak to

"Kakita-san, my apologies, but I... would speak with Kuni-san privately. Please excuse us... I hope to speak more another time." His voice sounds neutral but slightly distant, as though he's already begun moving away from Sakura and the rest. He bows his head somewhat abruptly and heads inside, locating a corner that is less populated and seems convenient for a conversation that isn't truly private, butt reaches fewer sets of ears.

Raizo, adrift and more than a little lost, drifted near the Otter.

Huh, don't think I know this person... wait, she's dressed like that nice lady at the tea house last night, so... Otter Clan. Usogawa, I think?

But he didn't come up with anything particularly intelligent to say.

So he said something stupid instead.

"Good evening, Usogawa-san. I don't believe we've met..."
