Not that Hikimasu was above comforting the child, either, but things had to be addressed.

He nods and gives a wave behind his back at Hikimasu, to suggest that he knows what he's doing. Right now it was about keeping the boy calm, so that he can respond to questions. You can ask a scared or angry adult whatever you want and they'll answer based on practicality. A frightened child might clam up... an excited child runs at the mouth like a river.

Koi sat upright. "He seems a normal child from what I can see, however he does appear to have a blessing to speak with the kami."

Koi looked to Yasu. "The necklace I gave you might assist with this situation, Yasu-san?"

[Kitsu Murato]

He may be bound here, he thinks. "Well then, tell me what your favorite is and what Renjiro's favorite is. I will bring them for lunch tomorrow," he said.

"You can sense Renjiro and know how he's feeling? Can you feel other things in the Inn too?"

There is a shaking of the small head.

[Kuni Yasu]

Yasu catches the word gaki, attention marking that pair.

It doesn't go unnoticed that Murato is remarkably good at handling children. She sets one hand on the boy's shoulder, offering encouragement to answer, even as she looks toward the Shosuro and Hajime. She thinks she sees what's happening, but better to be sure this isn't tangled up with the darker thing before leaving it entirely. It's not as if multiple conversations can't happen at once to iron things out.

To Koi she answers, "So as to talk with cat-Renjiro?" She smiles, squeezing the child's shoulder, "I think maybe boy-Renjiro's got that covered?" Her eyes catch Murato's "Pretty sure he's using the kami to talk with the cat. Maybe we can see what a kid's doing running an inn later on, unless he knows anything about this dark thing preying on guests?" Squatting just a bit she asks. "Have you heard any whispers about something scary in the inn?"
