Yasu, on the other hand, was a pile of jitters, on a stage, singing about love in front of everyone, after hearing Murato's all too recognizable references. But, she knew poetry, and its rhythms, this was just one more dimension, right? And Tanabe had said it would be easy to follow along.
Regardless, the only way out was through.
In her best kimono of deep grey, she was a suitably misty mountain herself, a small hourglass shaped drum hung from one shoulder. Yasu spent no energy on playing to the crowd, her eyes almost entirely on Tanabe for cues as to tempo and where to add her warm alto to the choruses. Her unguarded truth shine through more effectively than if she'd tried playing to the crowd. She provided a solid rhythmic foundation, while Tanabe's voice supported and soared around her untrained, but enthusiastic one, bringing out nuances she'd never have guessed were there.
