"I could always help you with that," Nesshin offers, still salaciously.

[Kaito Oubaihime]

"Maybe you can help me get some dry ones." She shook her head. "Then help me tie some of the layers up."

[Shika Nesshin]

"Later on, sure," Nesshin replies playfully, winking again.

[Kaito Oubaihime]

"Huh?" The priestess scratched her head in confusion. She asked a monk if they could lend her some clothes.

[Shika Katsuteru]

"I do," Nesshin says, and calls one of the temple's attendants.

"Kindly run and see if Shika Katsuteru is available; if he is not, please inquire for me as to his earliest convenience, because I will need to report to him. Quickly, now, please."

The attendant runs off.

The thunder claps as Shika Katsuteru arrives at the temple, wet from the rain. He was rather irked that he was essentially given a summons with no reason. If Nesshin had called him out here to show off his cleaning skills, Katsuteru was going to come up with a punishment worthy of a play.

If he was surprised to see Nesshin flirting with the Kaito instead of cleaning, it did not show on his face.

Instead, he just stood and waited for Nesshin to say so9mething while he was reasoning out the best punishment that would likely be needed that did not interfere with the miai.

For his part, as soon as he is aware that Katsuteru is there--as soon as the thunder claps--Nesshin leaves off any pretense of flirtation, runs over--yes, runs--and bows deeply.

"Shika-jodai," he says, loudly again, "the runner was sent to ascertain Shika-jodai's location and availability for reporting, not as a summons; that would be far above station, presumptuous even beyond me.

"But a further development. Kaito-san here," and he gestures to Oubaihime, "notes the presence of what she describes as a 'rain yokai' named Ame, appearing as 'a boy with a straw hat hidding under a almost closed umbrella' and influencing local weather. She notes, too, that there is entanglement with one of the attendees at the miai, the Suzume.

"Shika-jodai had asked to be informed of hostile interactions with spirits before they rose to the attention of the Lord Shika. After recent events, I--this one--had reason to suspect hostile intent, and so acted to inform as directed" without violating timeslot rules or causing temporal paradoxes.

He bows deeply once again.

Katsuteru's gaze slid over to the Kaito awaiting a more in-depth explanation in her own words.

"Ah... Shika sama." She bowed low to the taisa. "The other day there was a meeting of some samuraii that study the omens and wondered the nature of this rain. I suggested to consult the kami to hear their side of the story. I guess things got a bit weird in that meeting." She waved her hand dismissively. "Since yesterday was not really a rainy day I hoped that today lady Amaterasu would show us her beauty but we got rain again." She sighed. "So I decided to consult with the rain. I... I...I hope I didn't transgressed." She bowed lower. "So the Kami told me about Ame kun... I vaguely remember in the Water Dragon Temple we studied some yokai... Shika Nesshin sama had explained it quite well."

Katsuteru rubbed the bridge of his nose.

"You have not transgressed, Kaito-san. You have fulfilled your duties as one would can speak to the spirits, and for that the Deer thank you." he offered rather kindly.

And then he turned back to Nesshin.

"Nesshin-san, on the other hand, has. Either he's fallen behind in his study of spirits if he's reporting an Amefuri Kozo as a hostile spirit, or he's deliberately misinterpreting my orders to annoy me. Fortunately, the solution for either is the same."

"You will report to Shika Kan's class in the castle first thing in the morning for the following days until Shika Kan judges you've made up this gap in your knowledge.

And we'll add three more hours on to your temple cleaning duty. One for the hour of cleaning you're going to miss while attending the class tomorrow, one of the hour you missed now because I do not see you cleaning, and one for not doing as I say. I'm fairly certain I was very clear that when I next I saw you, you should have a broom in your hands."

He bowed to the Kaito.

"If you'll excuse me, Kaito-san, I have a castle to see to. Carry the Fortunes."

Having received the report, and given Nesshin mor punishment he made his....
