[Shosuro Hikimasu]

His eyes cut to the Shosuro again. Are you going to be lippy like the other one? he thinks briefly, then returns his attention to the Kitsu.

As if Hikimasu could read minds (he can't), the Shosuro looked over just as the Shika glanced his way. He turned back to the book vendor he was speaking to, selected a work he was relatively certain he wouldn't be too bored by, thanked them and paid, then walked in the direction of the other two samurai.

He wasn't explicitly happy to do so, his dead eyes unfocused, making him a difficult read.

[Kitsu Murato]

"I tend to prefer stories from those that can only tell them to someone with my peculiar gift. I can speak with spirits and it gives me the opportunity to hear tales others don't usually get to."

"I don't plan on inspiring any, but those that do inspire stories likely never intended it either."

He looks at the approaching samurai and nods in greeting.

[Shika Nesshin]

Nesshin also gives a nod to the Scorpion.

"I trust you've been finding good reading," he offers. "Shika Nesshin, and" gesturing to the other, "Kitsu Murato."

[Shosuro Hikimasu]

Hikimasu waved a pillow book marked That Room Will Go On Without Them, then put it in his kimono.

"We shall see, Shika-san", he said then bowed. "Shosuro Hikimasu, a pleasure." Straightening his dead fish eyes found Murato. "Here for the miai, Kitsu-san?"

[Kitsu Murato]

"I am," Murato confirmed. "I hope to enjoy my time here as it is my first time out of Lion lands, but the miai is the reason I have the opportunity to do so."

[Shosuro Hikimasu]

As Hikimasu listened he suddenly found it curious that two people with weird eyes were looking at each other.

Though he had to admit the Lion's were more pleasant than his own. The Scorpion had trouble seeing himself in a pond or river. The Kitsu was exotic though, in a pleasant way. Fortunately his sudden jealousy couldn't really show. He just stared dully.

"That's good, I've passed through Lion lands twice now, second time was to get here from Beiden pass." He cleared his throat. "Though I'm interrupting, aren't I? Uh..." he looked at the Shika. "Does your clan participate in the miai? Are you married already if you don't mind my asking?"

[Shika Nesshin]

Nesshin nods. "We do, for form if not for other reasons; after all, did we not trust ourselves for our services, how could we expect others to?"

He grins. "So I am the entrant, this time. And so you might guess I'm unwed, as yet."

[Shosuro Hikimasu]

"Hai, I was sent to do that", he admitted a bit wearily, a small nervous chuckle escaped his mask. "I can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I suppose I also don't know what to expect."

[Shika Nesshin]

"There'll be a series of events," Nesshin says, "that the matchmakers will use to asses our characters. And the results of those assessments will allow the matchmakers to make the best matches for all involved."

[Kitsu Murato]

"It is better to try and make friends and be cordial with potential matches according to my aunt who was matched at a miai. Said that if you try and find love at the event you may end up disappointed, but if you find friends it you've only gained. And building something more with your spouse afterwards is easier if you go into it as friends," Murato says.

"Makes sense to me, but I don't really see how you can control your heart like that."
