If attempting to use Courtesy against another player is there a set difficulty?

So, I"m gonna assume that "against another player" in this context is in the context of well of desire shuji. This is definitely one of those cases that the rulebook clearly intends for a tabletop group of players to use this against npcs, not use it on other players. Outside of the context of falling down because someone hit you with weapons, we tend to try to avoid removing a player's agency.

But I do have to be fair, and not give players plot armor, or depower one player to another's benefit. Now, Well of Desire is specifically related to the gift giving game. It is a failure of Courtesy to refuse a gift given in such a manner (assuming it's a legitimate gift. You cannot gift people poo and then be offended when they refuse to take it.)

For using Courtesy this way, I'll say the TN is equal to the target's Earth ring (More Earth does tend to make one more stubborn). If you pass the courtesy roll, they can still refuse the gift (preserving player agency) BUT it's going to cost them honor and glory to do so, based on circumstances. Out in the woods where it's just you two? A small hit to Glory as Yoshi runs back to town to tell everyone how mean you are. You're in court? Thaat's gonnna hurt . As far as honor goes, let's say if you fail the courtesy roll and they refuse, that's a trifling hit. If you make the roll, that's a minor breach of Courtesy. OF course, for a Lion, even minor breaches HURT.

Also keep in mind Yoshi, if you think you can weaponize the gift giving game, you're gonna find yourself in a lot of empty threads wondering why everyone avoids you :D

Fair enough. It would not be worth being a jerk about. :D

Thanks for a long response that clarifies the path forward.

Question I guess I should have asked before rolling but I noticed as I saw another post in the event. But does the water game move reduce the number of Successes needed for the killing blow?

I assumed since all the other moves listed a TN but that one explicitly did not that the water move didn't work on it.
It does work. Killing blow has a TN of 2, it's just written out as 2 successes.

Ahh that's what I get for over thinking things

So Is there a chance we can learn a little more about the d7 event before deciding who to pair up with?

For ranking purposes in the archery event - is 'Total successes' total rolled successes or total successful shots?

Total rolled successes, even if you miss the target they count.

Just so we're clear. The Archery event, you can stop shooting at any time. You must stop shooting if you miss. You can not keep shooting at targets you have already hit.

Is the drinking game similar in that you must stop on a fail or can one keep trying until they hit one of the two deleterious effects?

If the latter and one chooses to continue after a fail do you roll the same TN again or bounce up to the next one (since X number of drinks is X number of drinks regardless)?

Finally does Large come into play in helping soak the liquor (and thus apply the rerolls)?
