They totally work together. It's all about setting up for that killing blowUsogawa Emiko wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 8:06 am5) Flexible plays: Your plays attempt to maximize your flexibility on the board. This requires a Water/Games at TN 2. On the next round, you may reduce the TN of any Games action by 1I assume these two are not supposed to work together?1) The killing blow: Defeat them with one dramatic move! This requires an Any/Games roll. This requires two successes and two opportunities. However, depending on the opponent, after a certain round it only requires two successes. Beginner in round 3 and beyond, Casual in round 4 and beyond, Intermediate in round 5 and beyond. However, failing this maneuver is quite embarrassing, and perhaps fatal to one’s game. You take one strife for each symbol you are short.

Ie I roll 4 sucess , but 1 opportunity there , can I turn 1 sucess into the second opportunity that I need?

Can we use survival to get a easier way to get to the painter BTW, after all it is about surviving in the wilderness, and so cutting a path through it.

He's only relevant to some people. I din't mark the event closed in case one of them wanted to grab people going "No time to explain1! We need to catch this guy!Moto Mitsuki wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:00 amSo...

Given the much broader scope of the games skill and the usefulness of tactics for fighting, I'm gonna say no one this.

Re: Ask the GM
Slight reworking of the event's when do you lose in the go game:
The workflow of the event, for the moment, seems to be:
1. PC succeeds at roll.
2. NPC loses.
3. PC becomes compromised.
4. NPC has already lost and thus cannot counterattack.
So you can eat enough strife to pulling off a last ditch killing blow, that's fine. But I wouldn't take on another player since you'd auto lose

Re: Ask the GM
Question on the new Strife reduction options:
)
Also - that seems to be the only specified way to use Meditation to reduce Strife, since (as I asked before, I think!) there are no defined rules to use Meditation for Strife recovery... right?
And finally - they can be used only once per roll (i.e. not +), right?
As a minor comment - this makes Void/ Meditation slightly less useful for recovery than a thread (or no thread) dealing with your Passion. Is that on purpose?
Thanks!
EDIT: Oh also, one more since we're on Strife - can we use the Earth and Water opportunities that relate to Strife recovery (removing 2 strife from oneself with water and from someone else with Earth) in sparring threads? They're not 'GM mandated rolls', so I'd guess not, but since they're roll-heavy threads, maybe it'd make sense to allow it? Just wanna make sure where you stand
Are these like specific rolls for these purposes, and then you roll vs TN 1 and can use opportunities for these effects if you pass? Or are they TN 0 rolls? Or am I misunderstanding and they are opportunities that can be used whenever you roll Water/ Medicine or Void/ Meditation? (I assume not especially with the wording on the Water one, but doesn't hurt to double check!New opportunity spends for reducing strife:
Water/Medicine: : Reduce the strife of another person through a variety of medical means (herbs, massage, acupuncture, therapy, moxibustion, etc.) This reduces their strife by 2. They may only benefit from one such attempt per day (even if the attempt is unsuccessful, they may not try again on the same day.)
Void/Meditation: : Reduce your strife by 2. You may only do this once per timeslot, and not in a thread where you are in an event, pushing an agenda, pursing a passion, or sleeping.
