Dumb, Sweet Luck (Asahina Bo)

Bo was an open book but a lot of folks never had the chance to interact with him so feel free to ask anything you wanted to know. Still working with Railun on exactly what the future holds so that part is 'hazy at best'

Biggest surprise the game threw you?

Biggest "damn, I wish I'd done that differently" moment?

Favorite scene?

I mean every event he ended up coming out ahead on other than Sumai  I created Bo as a lovable, dumb lug to make up for not knowing the game system and expecting to fail. Turns out that I lucked into a strong build and, even above and beyond that, Sakkaku blessed a lot of the longshot rolls.

Hmmm nothing in-character. I'd just say that I didn't have enough time to interact with more people.
Favorite scene?
Definitely proud of this

I should have come for breakfast, but dojo stuff.

Had things been different, i might have hit you up for cooking advice, actually.

Was it difficult to play Bo well when everything around him was drama?

Honestly in a way he made it easier. I could just slap on blinders and ignore anything that happened in a thread he wasn't in. To Bo there was no drama until Ishi confronted him in the dojo, and even that he largely misread. Dealing with the fallout of Narumi's blackmail is harder for him but I lucked out on my law roll to come up with a solution that is easier for him... if not for her.

Also Narumi bent over backwards doing her damnedest to make sure no drama of hers got to him-- until it did.

What made you decide not just a large man of few words...but this enormous guy...and oh yeah, drop him in the Crane! Asahina in fact!

And then, where's the cooking come from (other than the mechanical bit for it)?

I tend to like playing characters that go against type. So when I decided on a big lug who sucked at his expected role Crane made a lot of sense. Asahina made the oddest fit but also made sense in then making him a sweetheart who would hate to hurt a fly - which means he fails at being a shugenja, sucks at being a courtier, and doesn't even do well being a bushi - so just this big square peg in a world of round holes.

I had decided that wanting to see the world made a good conflicting passion for a guard who was stuck in one place watching the ships come and go. One of his player's favorite ways to explore places they can't get to physically is through food so that made sense to carry over to him. Then add in the Crane famine and it made sense that they'd be trying to unload this, in their eyes, useless guy who eats a lot.

What's one thing that you feel the game handled really well?

What's one thing (outside of dueling and strife) that you feels needs to be changed before the next game?

What was up with wanting access to the inn's kitchen?

An incredibly talented and attentive GM. Seriously, pulling off a game this long, solo, is madness but you managed without any (obvious) breakdowns.

I mean I'm the weirdo who likes dueling and strife...

Hmmm, I'm sad there wasn't a chance to properly test out the combat system but I understand that not fitting the tone of the game.

I wanted to make sure he had a way to indulge his passion, game wise and character wise, that wasn't just 'I go eat'.
