With a tearful sob, he collapsed at the gates of the first Lion outpost he could find. He would later sob again when his part in justifying the war became apparent.

And so, he waited.

"Are you ready Kitsu sama?" The smiling face of Oubaihime, came from behind the Kitsu. "I hope Inari has blessed you today."

"I guess my luck is running low. I thank the fortunes that this morning I didn't kill any one with that trick shot." She sighed. "Keep your eyes peeled for the mud makes it quite difficult to find the little rascals."

It'd been a long time since he'd heard her sigh.

"I'm sure it'll pick up eventually - your other shots were definitely more on point than mine, I can assure you. and Mud, got it."

His eyes began to scan for mud.

"Hopefully today we can find a furry friend for this one." She looked around. "Kitsu sama... may I ask you something?"

Well, time to clear that up.

"Take a seat, Kaito-san." As he said this, he removed his haori, turning a nearby smooth surface into a suitable seating place.

"In short no, joining our clan during a miai will not involve you in the war at all. You are, to my knowledge, a trained shrine maiden - if you are given duties anywhere, it will likely be deep within one of the Lion land shrines, assuming you aren't given control of one of our estates. You would be an honoured and treasured member of the Lion, part of the scions of the next generation - you will, for several reasons, be kept as safe and as far from the war as possible by the mightiest army in Rokugan. Short of being already dead or in the Emperor's lap, there would be no safer place for you."

"Still, you probably have questions about the specifics - I can answer them for you before we continue hunting."

"That would be nice...." The Kaito took a seat. "I have never traveled far and don't know much about your lands just the stories that people bring to the Temple about the fierce Lion clan." She looked at the Kitsu then to the ground. "I am somewhat confused. I expected something so different.... I... I mean no offense."
