He nods at that, not knowing how to respond. Because if that were true it didn't feel like it in the moment. He knew he should be able to get over this. It was disappointment, it just happened to be a disappointment that was tied to his future. So it hurt, more than he expected.

She remains a bit behind him the entire walk back, leaving him that minimal privacy of not risking a meeting of eyes, and offering a certain unintended symbolism. There isn't a reason to drag him through painful conversation, and the Crab is plenty used to traveling in silence, so she'll remain quiet unless Murato finds the quiet intolerable.

The silence was almost worse than what a second round of apologies would be. He slowly starts humming instead, anything to fill the space, which would eventually become a song. Something to reinforce his mind. Something to support the stoicism he REALLY needed to lean on in the moment. Something to ease things for her as much as him just a little.
The song questions the value of worry in this one life. Needing to accept the things that are and live. That it will be good and bad and pain is temporary. Even in this pain things can be reasonably fine.

There's something of comfort in the song, and his voice is beautiful.
Hoping that Murato's hurt will ease with time is about all she can do right now, so perhaps she takes the words at face value. Perhaps she isn't nearly observant enough to see the extra strain the stoic Lion bends under, simply because he doesn't break and keeps singing.
