"I'm pleased you're amused, Shika-san", he said evenly, though to say he felt put out wouldn't be accurate. He didn't think he was being laughed at specifically anyway.

Nesshin stops.

"My apologies," he says. "I should not make light. But your timing and delivery--they compelled. Not for nothing are the Shosuro prized as thespians!"

He bows.

"But I do apologize. Your situation does not amuse, even if other things might."

"More like dramatic is what we are", he sighed a bit.

It was true. Just about every Shosuro, unknown even to the Bayushi, had a long rehearsal ahead pf them for the day they'd have to keep a straight face when ordered to do something absolutely insane by the clan leadership. The best Shosuro poker face still belonged to old dog face, Shosuro Inu, who could growl At once, Bayishi-sama the same whether he were cleaning lord Shoju's ash tray or dirking his own overly ambitious crime lord son.

His family had serious issues.

"And i take no offense, I don't believe your position enviable, either."

"Then let's both work to make them so, eh?" Nesshin offers, his smile returning. "Could do worse than that, certainly."

Oh yes, can always be worse. Let's not forget that.

"Indeed." He nodded then watched the forest again.

Nesshi looks out alongside the Scorpion.
