All of Mitsuki's good mood had vanished.

Yesterday, she had noticed one of the leather straps of her shield was damaged and should be replaced. Nothing abnormal there, the shield was old and had traveled wit her since the Burning Sands, having to do a bit of maintenance was expected.

However, finding leather in Rokugan was... something else.

In the Sands, abattoirs were always separated from the main encampment for hygiene reasons, of both the physical and spiritual natures. However, butchers and tanners were merchants like any other and you could just go to the market to obtain their products.

Here, you had to go to a slum outside the city walls, a few hovels in a clearing just out of sight enough to be tolerated, and negotiate over the stench of blood and urine for a the only good wolf hide in the whole pile.

It has been extenuating, Mitsuki had cursed in Ujik several time, but finally her prize was in her handbag (she came on foot, refusing to torment her horse with such a trip) and she was walking back to the city, following the curve of the walls.
