Once all the pleasantries had been taken care of, the small talk... these sort of things could not be rushed, at least not unless the magistrate chose to do so. Eventually, however, Sakura spots her moment. "Ah, the reason we have come, Doji-sama. Hiroto-san had some... difficulties at the front gate."

She nods to the Mantis, letting him produce his pass. "The destination was missing from his pass- on close examination by my servant, Nanami, the traces of it are detectable... but at some point, it appears to have been erased by one seeking to cause him mischief."

Be neutral. Accuse none, but be clear in what the issue is... be clear in what she is saying. This is not an error on Hiroto's part.

[Doji Oharu]

Oharu studied the papers, easily having enough vigilance to see the issue.

"Hmm, I see." he says. "Hopefully, Hiroto-san was respectful to the gate guards. It's easy enough to mistake and these are dangerous times with the potential of inter-clan disputes if a guard was careless. But being disrespectful to the guards.....they are, after all, the first impression one gets to make to the hosting clan."

Rather than stand, he opts to have a servant fetch the tools he needs to reissue the papers.

[Kakita Sakura]

Sakura- diplomatically- chooses not to speak for Hiroto's behaviour at the gate, instead simply tilting her head in acknowledgement.

Hiroto was embarrassed,,,,which quickly started to fuel anger.

"They should've called for the emerald magistrate immediately if they had one here who could fix this." he tried to mutter under his breath. Sakura definitely caught that, but did Oharu?

[Kakita Sakura]

Sakura simply tilts her head towards the Mantis before slightly shaking her head- trying to give a subtle signal that here may not be the best time or place.

She's willing to vouch for him, yes, but expressing anger won't help him here.

[Doji Oharu]

Oharu chuckled without mirth.

"Ah well, perhaps so, young Hiroto-san, perhaps so." he said, finishing up the papers. "But the walk to the gate is neither a swift nor an easy one for me, and the Deer have tried very hard to accommodate a man of my stature as opposed to an angry stranger."

He finished up the paperwork.

"A word of caution young Hiroto-san. Your rash words have already gotten you into a duel with Kakita Noritoshi. Had that been a duel to the death, we would not be speaking right now over this delicious tea. I believe his advice to you was 'Be faster'. I would add my own advice. "Think clearer."

He finished his tea.

"Was there anything else, Kakita-san?"

"There is not. My thanks, Doji-sama."

Sakura bows to him, before rising. "Hiroto-san?"

Hiroto had definitely gotten fired back up with Oharu bringing up his past failings. But he wasn't angry enough for another outburst quite yet. Instead he collected his papers, offered a bow that barely made the minimum of respect to an emerald magistrate, and stalked out of the yashiki. Not so fast Sakura couldn't catch up with him, but it was clear he wanted to be quit of the place.

Sakura waits before they're out on the streets, until any conversation is lost in the crowd, before she speaks next. "Do you know, Hiroto-san, what the reaction was when I first said I wanted to learn at the Kakita duellist school, instead of simply becoming an artisan?"

She pauses. "I was laughed at. It was... hm. Frustrating to be dismissed in that manner, as I suspect you can imagine."
