"You know, I'm reasonably certain that it would take my entire company at least a solid week to make this place filthy enough to merit all the cleaning they have you doing."

Raizo had entered to offer a few baffled, possibly frantic prayers to the Fortune of Marriage, but seeing the only Deer he'd met so far that didn't strike him as at least partially insane again, he'd made a slight detour

"That's as may be, Shiba-san," Nesshin says, sketching a bow. "But orders are, and this ought to wrap me up for a while, at least. So that's something."

"Just saying, you should have said something-I could make a mess a broom wasn't suited for, give you a breather..."

"Ah, no," Nesshin says. "Thought about that. Broom was declared...required. Specifically."

"Details matter, after all."

"Hrm. Well. Are you nearly done?"

"This hour'll be the last," Nesshin says, "unless I find myself told otherwise."

He glances around. "Never can tell when Shika-jodai will appear. The man moves like a ghost. Inspiring, really."

"Think it's part of the stuff they hand out at the 'terrifying superior' dojo. Most of my superiors haven't got, but the ones who do..."

"I've got to find a way to get invited to that dojo," Nesshin says. "Might be able to help keep people clear of conflicts that wouldn't serve them to be in, like some as are brewing."

"Never mind the sound; being caught between clapping hands is painful for the small things so afflicted."
