(D4, EA, Open but Expecting) Perfectly Innocent Spear Watching

[Asahina Bo]

Bo nods, "Ok, sure!"

Once she has found a place he takes up the practice spear and begins a series of slow, flowing movements as he acquaints himself with the weight and heft of it in movement. For his size the giant Crane moves with surprising grace and ease and the flow of the kata gets faster and faster.

Then, suddenly, the movement of his body stops though the spear certainly does not. Planted in a solid stance the young Asahina spins the practice weapon more like a quarterstaff than the earlier thrusting and swinging motions. Faster and faster the wooden shaft twirls in front of him until it creates a wall of wood between him, his invisible opponents, and whoever his charge would be. Now and then the spear snaps out in an attack but only when it would not compromise the defensive bulwark it has created.

Those with martial training, or keen eyes, will notice that Bo more often uses the blunt end of the practice spear to strike out as opposed to the head of the weapon. They might also now and then notice openings in the defense that seem like slips and mistakes but, tracing the path, anyone lured in by them would be drawn away from whatever the Crane was guarding and only striking at less vital areas of the big man.

She watched his movements with rapt interest, fighting internal distraction of imagining what those arms could do to her, and noting how confident and graceful the mountain seems in his element.
While she's by no means an expert on deciphering what he does, she can clearly see that he knows what he's doing, and that's enough for her.

[Asahina Bo]

Though the kata was not what he would call strenuous the high humidity of the recent weather still had the large Crane sweating by the end of the kata. Skin glistening and clothes sticking and highlighting his form as he returns to the Otter the practice spear resting over a shoulder.

"Uh... so, what'd you think?"

[Usogawa Narumi]

Oh kami. Her lips pushed together in a very thin line and her brow furrowed into knots. "Mhm." she couldn't speak for a very good moment as her throat closed up and blood rushed in her ears.

[Asahina Bo]

Noticing her distress, but oblivious to the cause, Bo kneels down next to her, "Are you ok? Did ya need some water?"

[Usogawa Narumi]

He was going to be the death of her, and she would die a very happy Otter.
"No... No, I'm fine." she lied through her teeth with a winning smile. "You move so fluidly. It's a pleasure to watch, is all."

[Asahina Bo]

It was Bo's turn to flush a little, "Oh, uh, thanks. Guess I had ta learn early on how not to be in the way given my size."

[Usogawa Narumi]

It had taken four days, but she finally saw him blush, and she was wrong. Now she could die a happy Otter.
But she also desperately wanted to see him blush again.
"Well, you are formidable. But also filled with compassion for your fellow samurai. It's admirable, really." Her smile faltered some, and she grew thoughtful.

[Asahina Bo]

"Aw shucks. I mean I just do my best and want people to be happy."

[Usogawa Narumi]

"Well if it means anything, you make me very happy," it slipped out and her eyes widened into saucers as she realized what she'd said out loud. It took every ounce of composure she had to avoid clapping her hands over her mouth in shock, and instead dropped her gaze to her lap.
Absolutely mortified with herself.
