She was about as intimating as a small hedgehog but in fierceness her beauty shined, and at least she could manage a Fire stance moderately, maybe?
Koi had moved into a downward strike aiming for the shoulder of Shiba as Aimi regained composure. "Since I missed my chance with you last time we spoke! You know that time with all the sake and that pillowbook." She cried out again.

Raizo had a choice.
He could keep hold of Aimi and drag her into the path of Koi's strike. In a real fight, it's probably what he would have done, all things being equal.
He could let her go and focus on defense, which a good sensei might do to let his students get some more reps in.
Or he could keep hold of her, drop his practice dao and use his newly free hand to try and catch Koi's wrist on the downstroke.
Which just seemed like more fun under the circumstances.
