His body, more than his mind remembering the duel from the day before, the Sparrow takes a quick step aside, narrowly avoiding the Shika's hit - his more neutral on slightly broken by a widening half-smile as his body turns to face Nesshin.

Right... so, if I'm not wrong:
- That doesn't cause a critical, but it causes Fatigue - I'll assume you went for a two-handed grip? If so, you'll have caused 5 damage (bokken 2H damage, no extra successes), -1 from the resistance of 'simple clothes'.

Fatigue at end of round 1: 4/8
Strife at end of round 1: 5/10

Then:
Top of Round 2
Each of us takes strife equal to the round (2); Senseki ignores these 2 strife due to Mind's Edge.

Senseki's Strife before bid: 5/10

The swing is again avoided by another quick shift of the Sparrow's feet - an avid observer would notice he could not have avoided it if not for his steady and precise positioning in preparing for his own advance.

As both Minor Clanners explode into a quick blur of motion, Senseki notices signs of the Deer's calm eroding away after a long resistance... but instead of quickly reaching for it, he takes a breath, letting the world around him fade again... and moves his left hand, which had been kept close to the hilt of another bokken on his hips, and uses the second, shorter weapon to strike in earnest... and true!

The Sparrow feels the second bokken hit, and a small smile forms in his lips.

But the Shika still has a chance...

OOC: Nesshin reduces it to a Severity 1 critical strike, which hits but doesn't actually hurt

He still gets a chance at hitting Senseki though!

The Shika's attempt after the Sparrow's hit is also avoided, this time deflected by the first sword he had drawn - the one that had *not* hit him. It took all of his effort to do so after all the focus and concentration of the tense duel, but he succeeds, and the Deer's bokken is thrown off course.

Senseki steps back to face Nesshin again slowly, the wearing tension visible on his face, and he bows low to his opponent.

"Thank you kindly for this very interesting match, Shika-sama. It was an honour.", he says, his calm voice broken here and there as he panted.

OOC:
Nesshin does *not* cause a critical with that result, so he doesn't 'meet his objective'. The attempt does cause 5-1 = 4 fatigue, though!
