Shika Zang looks much more in his element back in the dojo. The dojo is freshly cleaned, and blessed once more as today's competition will be dueling. An outer circle of wards surround the inner dueling ring, most likely to keep the somewhat explosive effects of taryu-jitsu duels from blowing away the audience.

"It's said that when two samurai face off in a duel, the distance between them becomes less than zero. Hopefully, this opportunity will clear up any doubts you have with your opponent for the final time. I will remind you that these are duels to first strike, or in the case of our shugenja, defeat, striking to seriously injure your opponent...say because your courtship has not gone well because of them, will not be tolerated." he explains.

Rules for non-shugenja:

Engage in a First Strike Duel with bokken or a Taryu-jitsu For the first strike duel, Create a thread in the dojo for the duel, and link it to this thread. Each duelist also needs to create a thread in their private forum so they can secretly bid strife on initiative and use the predict maneuver. Combatants will start at Range 1 from each other with weapons unready. The match is concluded either when 1 or both opponents achieve a critical strike of any value, one or more competitors are unable to continue, or one concedes the match.

Rules for shugenja:

Engage in a taryu-jitsu duel to defeat. Physical strikes are forbidden, you must defeat your opponent only with the gifts granted to you by the kami. Create a thread in the dojo for the duel, and link it to this thread. Each duelist also needs to create a thread in their private forum so they can secretly bid strife on initiative and use the predict maneuver. Combatants start at range 3 from each other. The match continues until either one or more opponents is unable to continue or one conceeds to the other.

In either case, if you were unable to secure a PC opponent, please inform the GM so he can provide you an NPC opponent.

Scoring priority:

Successfully pulled off a first strike against your opponent (if non-shugenja). Defeated opponent if shugenja.

GM Note: If your opponent concedes the match, this is treated as "Successful...." as far as the first step of Scoring priority goes. All the other values are going to be 0 though until you get to status, glory, honor.
