"Your understanding of the situation presented in the play is far deeper than my own, thank you for the lesson. I do not think there are many here who would see the things you have seen." Soyokaze said with a bow.

*nervous chuckling intensifies*

[Matsu Ishioka]

The Matsu, whose eyes had narrowed progressively more as the Moth continued, turned to the Scorpion.

"Is this normal for non-draw-lot plays? Such... extravagance?"

[Shosuro Hikimasu]

He thought about going on an involved explanation about how plays are made, but he wasn't a master of aesthetics himself.

"Yes. Much more preparation. They even rehearse. There's little to no improvisation."

[Matsu Ishioka]

The Matsu glares.

"Yes, indeed," he grumbles, in a tone suggesting Hikimasu had just relieved himself in the Lion's sake cup. "I meant, is it common to have..." He still struggles for a word to capture the elaborate construction Fujiko had described. "To have all these hidden layers of story?"

The Matsu glares.

"Yes", he said. "Most plays are written to have layers, so they can be enjoyed at face value, or on a much deeper level if the audience cares to look." Hikimasu seemed to explain this factually. He could see the Matsu didn't have much experience and so he put it straightforward without anything biting around the edges. "People write them to say something, so the message is always there, but they understand an audience wants to be entertained as well so they don't always make their many points and ideas obvious, leaving them for those who are interested to see."

The Stone Matsu listens attentively, though perhaps unhappily, as when Hikimasu finishes he quietly groans and shakes his head. "If these ideas are worth sharing, shouldn't they be shared with all the audience?" Though he's more reserved in displaying it, Ishioka seems to have a typical Matsu tolerance for subtlety and hidden information.

The Lion gives a snort of annoyance that sounds more like a grunt because of his deep register. "Perhaps tomorrow's play will be... more my style," he says, attempting polite conclusion.

So he just wants to complain..

The Scorpion nodded, leaving it at that.
