The Sparrow seems at a loss for words for a moment. He takes a long breath, blinks, then a very restrained smile shows in his lips.

"Suzume-san you address it from too complex an angle", he said with slight amusement. "If you were in trouble with unsavory characters, would you drag the woman you had feelings for into it? What if you fell in love during your troubles? Would you not be honorable and straight with them because of your feelings? Daisuke could not do that, because he is a gambler, even with other's feelings. He desired Kamie for her qualities that he lacked, but instead of caring for those qualities, he endangered them to save himself."
