While the crowds thin out as various samurai find more interesting ways to spend their nights together, the show must go on! And thus, the doors of the theater are opened once more.

At this point, Raizo had decided.

He was going to watch every single one of these fucking things.

So maybe he could begin to understand them...

Mingling around before the play begins is Narumi.
Her interest in the Deer's plays had waned, but she still made the effort fairly frequently to attend. It's the title of this play in particular that made her pause, and ultimately was the deciding factor in her coming tonight.

Actually having leave to do so, Nesshin attends.

It's good to relax and take in the production.

After a brief delay after a wardrobe mishap backstage, the lanterns are lowered and the play begins!

Victory Cleanses Shame by Akodo Michizane

Having unknowingly offended his father in-law, thus souring his relationship with that entire side of the family, including his wife and son, Matsu Giichi is fortunate to be offered a sensei role at the Akodo War College. Away from his family, Giichi finds himself not only popular with his students who perform incredibly well under him, but starts to receive a great deal of attention from the parents of his students of a romantically inclined nature. Giichi must navigate this battlefield of love while keeping his honor intact.

In the end, Matsu Giichi managed to deftly handle each of the would be romantic partners, and manages to regain the respect of his father-in-law by fielding a class who would be come to known as The Steel Lions.

A prompt towards fidelity? Nesshin thinks. Or some other measure?

Who can tell?

She hated it.
The ending was so nauseatingly optimistic that she felt she might vomit because it seemed so impossible.
Narumi stewed in her seat, hands in her lap, buried in her sleeves, fuming and trying to find the ability to stand and leave but locked in place for the moment.

So Raizo fluttered his fiery wings a bit and flapped over to the Otter.

"Haven't heard a story like this one since I was six."

And even at six, I called bullshit on it.

A happy ending that benefitted from honorable actions intended to solve a potentially sinful situation. Yuzu appreciates the play.
