She kept her eyes on the play and smiled at the many mishaps that the story had to tell. She started to wonder will she ever make such mistake. Thinking that another is from a different clan. She chuckled as she probably would. "So Lion sama did you enjoyed the play?"

"There are always those who take any sort of game far too seriously." Minae offered. "I remember reading about one particular Scorpion who took the Game of Letters too far. He fancied himself irresistible to women, and decided to pursue the most uninterested Kakita duelist of the court. He mistook her participation in the game as interest; if he just pushed a little bit farther, he was certain she would fall for him. And so further and further he pushed the boundaries of the game until finally......"

She snaps the fan closed with a resounding snap.

"She challenged him to a duel. Not just any duel, a shii duel. Over what she considered her public shaming at his hands. All over a mere game that was taken well too far."

Soyokaze bowed as he entered the theater reflexively, when he rose he blanched at the sight of how many people were already in attendance and bowed again. Am I really that late, curses. Quickly he moves to an unoccupied spot along the wall hoping he doesn't get in the way.

"Perhaps, but I would argue that she had simply been driven too far. The Scorpion wished to awaken the Crane's passionate nature, and so he did, just not in the way he intended." she relays.

She puts the fan before her once again, so only the Seppun hears the next part.

"As a point of fact, she was so far gone, she demanded that he, as a courtier, face her with no champion." she said, nearly whispering the scandalous occurrence.

[Suzume Senseki]

The entrance of the Sparrow that seemed to be looking for a place, in Murato's mind, saw the Lion seeking his attention to get him to come join him at his seat. He'd never met a Sparrow and was a bit curious.

It took the Sparrow a while to notice the Kitsu's attention, and when he finally did he meant to come closer... but then the lights were lowered and the play itself started.

Present somewhere in the crowd, Tomoe had mostly stayed back from any other attendees and watched the play with clear enrapture. It was an excellent show to watch and way to relax after her day and afternoon sparring. She reacts at all the appropriate moments and applauds at the end. As it comes to completion, she wonders if she might discuss it with anyone.

As the Suzume had not come to speak with him as he had hoped, another person who had sought some privacy during viewing noticed another with a similar idea. He moved his seat location and sat down near the Shiba and greeted with a head bow. "Good evening Shiba-san, I am Kitsu Murato. I hope you enjoyed the play," he said, gauging her reaction. He definitely had a soft, easy smile.

As the play came to its end, he looked for the Kitsu in the crowd again, and found him moving near a samurai-ko. He wondered for a while, but finally decided to move closer and seek a seat near the two of them.

"Lion-sama... Phoenix-sama", he says, looking at their mons and again trying to avoid mistakes keeping to the most obvious title. "Good evening, I'm Suzume Senseki. I figure you've also been sent for the... festival?", he says with a kind, easy smile as well. "What did you think of the play?"

Hikimasu watched the play from the back. He caught more of who was in attendance with who than the story.

He hated the plot, but he supposed it was miai-appropriate

"Yes, a strange title choice indeed. Wait... It hints at the... Ah. The second miai. It works out best." He nods, looking just a touch proud that he'd made sense of that. Then he turns pensive again. "But is the moral of the story that your first miai may not go well, and your second will be better?"

"Huh. I thought it was more about the power of poetry and not fixating on people you can't have." There's a thoughtful pause. "The miai part's definitely not meant to be literal though. Who ever goes to a second miai?"
