(D6ME) A Very Good Buy (open)

Yes, it’s during the play, and yes Inoshishi should be there, but tonight there are other things on her mind. Like promises she made, even if they weren’t exactly fully stated and accepted promises. Besides, the Zeni were burning a hole in her netsuke, so it was best to spend them before they fell out. So she’d found her way to the market, a carefully packed bag with her.

She’d thought doubling her kimono would have felt the same as usual, but it really really didn’t. There was more drag, less support, more air flow. In short, it felt decidedly uncomfortable and she wasn’t going to do this again if she could help it. Which was true on more than one front.

After picking up a few gifts, she made her way to one of the stalls in the back section, away from samurai and their propriety, finding the dye shop she’d asked some heimin about. With a small chiming of metal on metal, the shopkeeper departed a richer man and Inoshishi promised to lock up. In the back, there were pots and pots of simmering dye, just as she’d anticipated. She knew exactly which ones she wanted and knew she could do this thing, right? How much harder is it to dye cloth than to stitch it, after all? (Design 1, baby!)

Some time later, it turned out to be somewhat harder than expected. However, the outcome is great, it’s just no one had told the young Dragon(?) that dye is very, very splashy. So now her…third best kimono had some odd colored splashes on it, and worse still, her hands were covered with yellows, browns, and dull golds. That was going to be fun to explain.
