Kyuden Shika

Assuming no paradoxes are in effect--and damn, but won't there be a lot of unwinding if there are!--Nesshin walks through the market, pondering things.

Mitsuki eventually showed herself, her usual dress attire covered up with an unremarkable raincoat. She was actually wondering if she should buy a more outstanding one since this was apparently the outfit of choice in this place at this time of the year.

But everything in its own time. For now, she walked straight to the Shika, and offered a light bow.

"Hope you had a good day so far Shika-sama. I'll confess I'm quite curious about what you might have concocted on such short notice."

Nesshin, assuming no paradoxes ensue, returns the bow and again offers his hand.

"It's easy to cook things up with good ingredients," he says, and he smiles, "and all the easier with fine inspiration. You'd said you wanted to see the city, and this is in many respects its beating heart--or at least its belly, without which filling, we none of us do well, neh?"

He gestures about in the rain. Again, assuming no paradoxes.

"And things are well with you?"

A humid handshake later:

"I'm still getting used to the fact I've seen more rain in three weeks that I usually see in three months. If you know of a place that sells good waterproof makeup and good rain clothes, I might be tempted to make some investments.

Outside that, doing fine as always. And on your side?"

"I happen to know just such a vendor," Nesshin says, "and I got some vigorous exercise this morning, which I could've skipped."

He shrugs and smiles again.

"Still, it's done, and I'm here, now. So, shall we?"

He gestures in a direction likely to have such a vendor as he's noted.

Again, assuming no paradoxes.

"Some of that jumping from tree to tree thing you Deer do in the forest?

But sure, a shopping spree is fine. Lead the way."

"Not so much, no," Nesshin replies as he escorts the Moto. "Rather less enjoyable, as it happens. There was an...altercation in the gardens that I had to be part of. Matters are resolved, but there're still better ways to start a day."

He shrugs. "Still, it's as it must be, clearly. Just as the rain is." He looks up and smiles. "Or its lack, when it lacks.

"I'd heard something about a get-together of seers. You're one such?" he asks.

"Will be would be a more appropriate description. I'm still quite early in my training, due to only seeing my teacher every so often, busy that I am with my many obligations. I wonder if my last formal lesson wasn't a full year ago. I do practice a bit by myself of course, but progress without a mentor is excruciatingly slower.

No need for special powers though to guess that your incident was likely more serious than separating two drunk people punching each other feebly, or that it's not of my concern really as long as you're fine."

Nesshin gives a snort of laughter. "You might say as much! And I've done enough drunk-wrangling...

"Which, I have to ask, given the Unicorn roam, what do you do for drink?"

"The Moto have gathered drinking games from all around the world. But my previous example wasn't innocent as the most topical one is for the evening to end up with some wrestling. Generally between two heavily inebriated half-naked muscleheads.

That's why a wise Moto general always have their most physically strong warriors thoroughly trained in hand-to-hand combat: So that their reflexes kick in even when half-conscious and they don't hurt each other or themselves too badly."
