"Do you know what type of materials you want it made of? The Shika have been very generous but I have yet to ask for any large quantities of any one metal...aside from silver. There are other details as well, engraving, size, all the little things that make a gift personal."

"I think darker metals would be fine, brass, copper, the like", Hikimasu offered. "On the top the swimming otters would fit, the sides would be nice to show rivers and boats, perhaps otters in kimono dancing. On the bottom, if you could make the mon of my family displayed, that would be perfect. It doesn't need to be too large, honestly whatever size makes it easiest for you to make the internals and fits your sensibility would be appreciated."

[Asahina Soyokaze]

"I think brass or bronze would best for this then, copper is beautiful but it without constant upkeep it will turn green over the years; wet or humid environments will hasten this. Would you be offended if I did some sketches of your family mon while you are here? I would not want to do your Family any dishonor." His words were only slightly fearful and totally sincere.

"Good suggestions", he nodded. "And be my guest, it can be complex as an item, a drawing is much easier."

Soyokaze's attendant came forward with paper and ink and he set to work. within three strokes he had already tossed aside his first attempt. "A music box is seems like a very serious gift, I take it things are going well for you then?" His second drawing likewise was discarded and he started anew.

"It's hard to say", he told Soyokaze. "I know it might sound strange coming from a Scorpion, but I've decided to have a little faith in others and I am even getting dangerously close to having some in myself."

The Crane gave a sympathetic groan. "Trusting others is difficult, and can be costly when that trust is betrayed."

Tsk! A third drawing hit the ground and was taken up by Soyokaze's attendant. "So this is a gift of declaration." His focus noticeably sharpened.

"I suppose it might be", he said, not entirely nonchalant but certainly not giving a grave committal. "I thought it would be proper, even if things don't work out, that they have something to remember me by. Though should I succeed, I thought it would be something they would enjoy regardless."

Is no one here confident in themselves or everyone lying to me.

"Well something this complex is certain to make a statement."

"Good then", he said with a bow. Then he sat up and gave the Asahina a discerning look. "I'll trust you are capable for this, because I want to." He was very much communicating it was his decision to trust, and the results are his responsibility.

"You seem to be the type to overwork, if that's too rude, I apologize but it is very obvious", he told the Crane. "What do you do to relax, usually?"
