"I did not, as it happens," Nesshin says, and his wet clothing shows the truth of it. It doesn't seem to bother him much, if at all--but he is an outdoorsman, so he's almost certainly been out in worse than this more than once. "Though I'm surprised a devotee of the Water Dragon'd use one. Not complaining or arguing, mind, just surprised."

He does not complain of her closeness, certainly; rather the opposite would be true, actually. And he says "I know better than to think that of you.
