Kyuden Shika

Having had a long night, Nesshin, wearing familiar clothes, finds his way into the market. It's not the first time, of course; he's had night watches, as might be expected, and there've been...other reasons. So when he finds a booth that serves up breakfasts, it's not a surprise when he flirts audaciously with the servers; they know him, fairly well, and they know his ways. That he's not too shabby at it helps, too.

Once the food is served--along with some stout tea--he tucks in with a will.

The morning found Kitsuki Kiyonobu in the market looking for breakfast as well. Seeing a familiar face, he approached Nesshin and bowed.

"Good morning, Guardsman Shika," the Dragon said. "How is the food? I was considering trying that booth, myself."

Nesshin chews and swallows what is in his mouth before he stands and returns the bow. "Kitsuki-san! Please, join me! Food's good, and company makes it all the better!"

"Excellent," Kiyonobu said, and he purchased a meal from the same market stall, bringing it back to join the Deer's table.

"How goes it with you, Shika-san?" the Dragon asked as he prepared to eat his meal. "Were they able to spare you from your regular duties while you participate in the miai, or have you had to do both at once?"

"Orders came through yesterday," Nesshin replies, nodding. "Temporarily detached, pending results of the miai. Wouldn't be surprised if I don't get ambushed by my colleagues; it's happened to others."

He shrugs. "But it's welcome. Camaraderie matters and all.

"Things well on your end so far? Any complaints?"

To-go box of breakfast rice in hand, Narumi takes time to saunter through the market in the open air, before it became more crowded.
She spots the Deer she'd had a pleasant enough conversation with the other day, and a Dragon who is unfamiliar to her. She decides to wander over.
"Good morning, samurai-san, this one is pleased to see you enjoying Inari's blessings! May I share some time with you, as well?"

Nesshin rises and bows to the newcomer.

"Of course, Usogawa-san," he says. Then he adds, "Have you met Kitsuki Kiyonobu?" gesturing to the Dragon.

Following Nesshin's example, Kiyonobu rose to bow to Narumi.

"A pleasure to meet you, Usogawa-san," the Dragon said in a cultured voice. "Please, be welcome."

"Ohayo, Kitsu Kiyonobu-san, the pleasure is all mine, I assure you," she says confidently but not overtly so, and gives a simple smile.
"Please, continue on with your discussion? And we will enjoy our breakfast."

"I was simply asking after how Kitsuki-san has been," Nesshin says as he resumes his seat. "And I extend the question to you, of course, Usogawa-san. I know it is early, yet, but how have things gone for you thus far? Any complaints?"
