Aimi flinches slightly at that.

"That, Kitsu-san, is a private matter," she says after a moment, forcing her tone to be calm, "On the waves, to enquire so bluntly about the cause of a ronin's status can be grounds for a duel in the worst of cases, and bad feeling at the least. Those cast out in shame are rarely keen to relive the incident, and those who were never born to a Clan are painfully aware of the nature of their existence."

[Kitsu Moshumaru]

The Kitsu bows.

"Forgive my offence - My time as afloat was short enough that I had never encountered such a dilemma. Please, forget that I asked."

He looked for a different topic to turn to, one that wasn't too intrusive.

"So how have things been? I hope you have been treated well by the Shika."

'things' was vague enough that the conversational initiative was hers.

"Things have been... fine?" Aimi says, a tad awkwardly, trying to take the offered deflection... but it's no use, she can't settle down and relax, not here. Ultimately she can do nothing but shake her head and sigh. "I am sorry, Kitsu-san. This was a mistake. I should... I should go."
