Tomeo nodded.

"Ah, perhaps I should not ask this, but do you serve your clan as a magistrate, Deer-san?" he asked. "You seem a bit young to sereve as an emerald magistrate."

"I'd agree that I've not the experience to serve the Empire more directly," Nesshin replies, "and I've yet to be named to aid my Clan in that capacity--although I've stood no few watches, gone on no few patrols, to help maintain the local peace and that of the surrounding forests."

He shrugs.

"Someday. But not today."

He looks back at the other man. "Might I ask why you ask, Unicorn-san?"

Tomeo shook his head.

"Merely a hunch given your choice of analogy, Deer-san. You could've said too many flowers, too many fruit, too many bottles of sake, or nearly any other thing a samurai could be interested in an make into an analogy. That you went to too many leads, suggested an intereest in magisterial matters."

He chuckle a bit.

"Or perhaps you've divined my position, and were simply going for an easy analogy to make....but there was something in your voice that suggested the former over the latter."

"Oh, I'm no diviner," Nesshin admits readily. "And I'm evidently of no good face at present, either. But then, what is such a place as this for if not to let such things happen?"

Tomeo nodded.

"Indeed. Does Deer-san perhaps have a favorite within the house? Given his status as a local, I would trust his opinion on which diversitions are....sufficiently diverting." he asked.

Nesshin grins.

"That'd depend on Unicorn-san's pleasure," he says. "All here are skilled, but none are skilled equally in the same things. Although one, Ibu, has wonderfully deft, strong hands."

Tomeo grinned at that.

"Ah, truly? Much obliged Deer-san. I could use the attention of such." he replied.

"I'm happy to oblige," Nesshin replies. "And, truly, it's been a restful time here. I hope for you, too."

Tomeo smiled.

"Oh, I have no doubt of that Deer-san. Your clan are phenomenal hosts. Everything has been attended to with expert care." he praised.

Nesshin smiles and nods.

"That's good to hear, Unicorn-san, truly. I'd hate to think my people've been otherwise than accommodating to those visiting with good heart."
