He nods, and removes his katana from his obi laying it at his left right side and straightening the folds of his hakama as he sits in seiza. It didn't look comfortable at all. Looking to Emiko, he shakes his head "Pardon me. I forgot. Care to explain again?"

"Ah of course Seppun-sama. Shogi is a game where we each play the generals of an army. We take turns to move pieces until the champion" she motioned to the champion piece in the middle" is left unable to move without being captured. At that point the game ends.

She sat down on one side of the board, and smiled to Yuzu, then took some more time to explain.

"Shall we start?"

He nods at the explanation and tries to back up at least some knowledge, "At the Palace, for some odd reason, we usually play Go. Not that I am any good or remember much of all the rules in any way."

Wrinkling his nose as he checks the pieces, Yuzu clacks them on the board and says, "Let's do this!"

Emiko smiled and nodded.

"Hai, let's play some games."

She took her time, not needing to crush her opponent. Her plays were more cunning, but she on purpose didn't go for the obvious plays to allow Yuzu a chance to learn and understand the game. At some point the tea was also delivered, with a scent of peach coming from the teapot.

Yuzu doesn't smile, but he does try hard to give a good impression about himself to Emiko as a good sport. "Ha! I guess it is a draw. Is there a draw in this game?"

Emiko looked slightly confused as she examined the board.

"There shouldn't...how did we? Oh, I see. Well played Seppun-sama" Emiko bowed "you picked up the game very well and quickly got into it. They say Shogi is a very tactical game, perhaps Seppun-sama has a natural knack for strategy?"

He nods to himself, proud that she complimented him. Oh boi!

"Hai. I am good at that. Yet, if Usogawa-san allows me to explain, there's a difference between tactics and strategy."

"There is? I didn't know that" Emiko picked up the teapot and poured some tea for Yuzu "please explain, I'd like to know the difference."

Yuzu nods thankfully, and pours some tea to Emiko before getting his own cup. In the process, he explains, "Strategy is the broader term. It is when you gather intelligence to plan ahead in oder to achieve your objective. For example: when someone's goal is to secure a specific person as a match in the miai, a plan has to be made to both know the person in question, and then another to make sure the Shika will look favorably into the potential match."

He takes a sip, "Tactics is what comes next. It is every planned step –– and mitigations to detours on that path –– to make sure one of the main requirements is followed through until completion. For example: regarding the same goal, but only taking in consideration knowing more about the person in question, how to make sure the encounter happens and reaches a favorable objective."

Settling the cup down, he adds another part, "The last part is the operation itself. The action. This often always changes, despite any plan. Not that one shouldn't plan. They should. It is that they just need to improvise quite often with their objective in mind. Both the strategic and the tactical."

Yuzu shrugs, "You asked for it. Now you've been nerded by a Seppun Guardsman." He fetches an item from his pocket and offers to Emiko with both hands and a head bow.

"Here's you accolade, onegashimasu." The young boy reveals a plucked chrysanthemum flower, potentially taken from the garden.

It would be generous to say Emiko undertood about half of that. She wasn't the most intelligent, but Yuzu was a governor already. Someone she could learn from, for the day she'd take over her fathers position, so she listened intently and did her best to understand. So she was completely caught off guard when he offered a flower to her.

"Oh...Seppun-sama. You have provided me the gift of knowledge, you don't need to gift me anything else."

It seemed like a gift to her, so there begins the game of refusals.
