"A story about me, or a classic Lion story?" he asks.

She turned to look at him and winced. "You choose... I am to tired to think." She yawned again.

He takes the moment to kiss her on the forehead, before letting her turn back around and become comfortable. Gently, he starts stroking her hair, as he searches for the story he wants to tell.

A few moments later he nods before starting.

"Three..." he pauses, raising three fingers for her with his other hand, "...samurai were walking down the road, talking about their spouses. The first was married to a brave and powerful bushi that had recently returned home from battle. He had been away for two years and she missed him dearly. He was off defending his lands with honor. She spoke of how she missed him dearly. The last letter she had gotten was from a friend of his that had wanted her to surprise him because it had been so long."

"The second told the other samurai of his husband who was a skilled playwright. He had been away visiting another castle, to put on the debut of his latest play. He had been away for almost a year, and she missed him so much that she found out when his next show was and planned to surprise him by showing up to watch it together."

"The third loved her husband so much that she just could not bear to be away for so long. They had only recently married and she missed him after only 2 weeks so she decided to find out where he was. He was a courtier that was representing his clan's interests in a neighboring province. Having been unable to be away so long she was going to surprise him intending to travel with him with her lord's permission."

"The three stopped for the night at an inn on the way to the city where all of their husbands to be. When the third walked in to the Inn she shouted with joy, surprised to see him there. She ran to him and held him, but he seemed utterly terrified. When she turned back to introduce him the other two looked quite angry. And so the three chased their husband out of the inn."

Bai placed her head on his lap finding herself in confortable position. The girl yawned once more as she closed her eyes to listen to his story. She lightly chuckled when he showed her the 3 fingers. As he told the story Bai slowly drifted to Yume-do.

He didn't rush to leave right away, sitting for a bit to make sure she was well and truly asleep. Murato was very careful and gentle about pulling out from beneath her head laying it on a nearby cushion. If you ask, I'll stay next time, he thinks, before slipping out.
