Nesshin, carrying a small box, finds his way to a particular room in the Inn and scratches at the frame to announce himself. Before it opens, he adjusts himself surreptitiously. Gotta look sharp, after all.

Inoshishi is putting the finishing touches on her outfit, making sure it falls appropriately. Smiling slightly, she goes to the door, her keen eyes sweeping the room to make sure all of her important items have been appropriately stored before sliding ghe door open. Seeing the Deer, she bows politely, her grin widening.
“Shika-san! I was just thinking of you. So glad you dropped by, please, come in.”

Nesshin accepts the invitation, entering and sliding the door shut behind him.
"I'm pleased to be thought of, of course," he says, grinning, "although I hope happily. And after your performance this morning, your outfit is...quite attractive."
Saying so, he lets his eyes sweep over her. And he offers the box.
"I try always to be a good guest, of course, the more so for so lovely a hostess."
(We can play out the refusals or handwave them. Either is good.)

Between the compliment and the appraising glance, Inoshishi is blushing prettily, perfectly content to be examined in such a way. She eyes the box and shifts slightly.
(OOC: let’s handwave since my schedule might make the three take forever)
After two polite and flirtatious refusals, Inoshishi accepts the box.
“Shall I look at it now? Or wait for later? A pity I don’t have anything ready for you to open…” she cracks it open slightly, teasingly, not looking in it yet.

Oh, there's something I can unwrap, Nesshin thinks. "Please do," he says, and if she does, she will find in it books detailing folklorical stories gathered under the title Tales Told at a Miai. "I'd thought it apropos, truly, and you've said you like stories, so..."
Nesshin trails off and shrugs.

Inoshishi’s mouth forms a cute little ‘o’ in surprise, then she shrugs in turn, to a slightly different effect. Her kimono shifts slightly, showing more of her neckline and upper chest. Apparently Nesshin has found the key to her heart. Or somewhere close of it.
With shouldering eyes, she says, “Gosh, how will I ever repay you, Shika-San?”

"It's a gift," Nesshin says. "No repayment is needed, of course. The pleasure of your company is more than enough."
He smiles. "And I hope you'll find my company pleasant. Very pleasant."
He shifts, scooting closer to her. "I'd like to know more about you, certainly, see more of you."

Inoshishi chuckles, smoothing her kimono. “I’m sure you do. At least you’re an honest sort, although those seem to be in rather more abundance than one might have thought. What parts of me would you like to see, my dear Shika-San?”
She makes no haste to move away, setting the box to one side and meeting the Deer’s eyes guilelessly. Her voice has risen slightly, giving the appearance of teasing without the substance of any particular tease, other than her shoulders, which remain rather conspicuously bare.

"Honesty is virtuous, is it not?" Nesshin asks, grinning at the banter developing between the two. "I've been told so, anyway, and I try to be a virtuous man, upright and firm." His eyes stray to her slim shoulders, her neck, the top of her chest.
They return to her eyes. "But if this is a test," he continues, "then I am sure to rise to the occasion.
"I trust the artist to know her work best. I am a rapt audience for the performance, a listener to the stories you would tell--though I appreciate those that call for audience participation, certainly."
He grins, mixed metaphors and all.

She laughs at the earnestness in the Deer’s answer. “I’m sure you have indeed risen, like Lady Amaterasu herself, to the occasion, upright and firm. Appreciation is all we performers ask, that and a rapt audience, like you say.
But be aware, my dear Shika-san, you may find yourself caught up in the story, pulled to the brink of your seat. Drawn by my voice to the very edge of anticipation…and if aren’t careful, that’s where I’ll leave you, ensnared by my voice and my stories, needing more, craving another syllable.”
Despite the vaguely creepy content, her voice remains normally pitched, her eyes aflame with amusement.
