[Kitsu Tsugumasa]

Tsugumasa offered a seated bow as well.

"Ah, and as I said...I'm Kitsu Tsugumasa" he said again, though this time not through a door.

Ishioka blinked slowly, entirely unaccustomed to being the life of any gathering.

"It's interesting that we're all male Lions," he observes, forcing his voice to show genuine interest. "I hope we won't have too much competition among us," he says with a bit of warmth and humor, getting a modest-looking smile onto his face. "Are there particular qualities that any of you are looking for in a match?"

Murato smiled. "Female, unmarried, and present at the miai. But in seriousness my mother is more interested in me finding a Shugenja match and my father in a political one. I myself am more inclined to trust in the wisdom and reputation of the Shika."

Tsugumasa continued to look directly at his cup.

".....my family wants me to find a female shugenja of impeccable honor." he said without preamable. "It's important to continue the line and the family traditions."


It's not that Tsugumasa was unhappy with that....but the penalties for failure were most concerning to him.

Murato nodded. He could recognize pressure when he saw it. He wondered if he might be able to ease the other Kitsu's burdened mind with some entertainment or activities of camraderie.

"Good female shugenja, wise indeed," Ishioka murmurs. "Kitsu blood is to be cherished. And with some coordinated effort, I'm sure we can make those best matches happen." His voice doesn't approach cheerful, but there is a solid confidence to it.

"Kitsu Murato-san," the bushi says formally, not ready to use only personal names. "For Kitsu blood and... interesting politics," Ishioka says with a hint of question in his voice, "I know of a Scorpion, not a shugenja, but one with the fiery red hair of strong Kitsu blood. And," his voice shifts to more cautious, "a fiery personality to match."

"I can find a chance to speak with her I'm sure," he says with a nod.

The Kitsu nodded as he listened, interjecting only when the Scorpion was mentioned.

"I have spoken to this Scorpion - from my limited interaction with her, she is one who seeks the freedom to do what is right. She is vocal about the fact she feels she may be trapped by her lineage, unappreciated by her clan, and burdened if marriage occurs. If you wish to woo her, you must convince her that a marriage wouldn't confine her to a cage."

"If I may, however, I believe there is something we must address. As we know, we have the Crane on the back-foot - I can imagine the Crane would be treacherous enough to try and call in the minor clans against us. I will be speaking to a friend of mine this afternoon on the topic, to see if I can ensure they don't. I would like you all to help me ensure they do not feel this is wise. I trust we understand why this is important, yes?"
