"Hmm...if I hear they actually caught a maho-tsukai trying to sneak in, I'd feel a bit more confident about that. As it is, can't help worrying that they're just skimming credentials to let one sneak in elsewhere."

At the meow, Yasu looks down, then crouches, hand sliding down the haft of the (sheathed!) polearm. "pspsps," she says, setting her pack beside her to free up a hand to reach toward the kitty.

Yasu tilts her head slightly, watching the cat and then looking up at Daichi. "Had a cat do that once when she wanted me to get her kitten out from where it'd gotten itself stuck falling between some tree roots. But it seems weird with one that doesn't know us, yeah?"

Satisfied he was being followed, Renjiro walked down the hallway past a few occupied rooms before finally flopping down in front of one of the rooms. Deft cat paw went under the door clawing at it until it opened.

Then Renjiro went inside, turned around, and did a feline stretch remarkably similar to a servant welcoming home a samurai.

To be honest, while her crouch would lend itself well to some sort of leap, it was going to take a second to rise if she wanted to follow them normally. And leaping at the cat seemed likely to scare it, so that wasn't ideal.

With the greatest of confidence, Renjiro walked over to the room next to the Scorpion's and working their paw underneath the door, clawed at it until it popped open. There was the feline stretch, and a quick meow, before Renjiro went bounding down the hallway to arrive at the feet of the Phoenix.

"It seems we're neighbours Shosuro-sama!" Emiko said with a smile, either not hearing or not accepting the 'no sama' part "it's funny how the Fortunes are, ne?"

“I’m surprised, too. I never realized you could get a cat to do this. Cats are very independent creatures, so it should be pretty hard to do so.” Daichi steps into the room that the cat welcomed her into. “Thanks, cat friend. I hope you get some real nice fish from the innkeeper later.”
