The truth was the Otter had been standing outside the door to Bo's room for a minute, maybe two, working up the courage to announce she was there. Twice she'd turned and even taken a step away, back in the direction of her own room.
Eventually she raises a bruised hand, and after initial hesitation even then, she scritches to raise his attention to a visitor.

It takes a moment before the large man opens the door, "Oh, hey Usogawa-san. What's up?"

Behind him, though perhaps hard to note with the massive form in the way, a rather spartan room is on display. It looks like he has unpacked little other than a set of lacquered armor and yari that are set aside at the back of the room.

Immediately, she's blushing. "Ohayo, um, at this point I think you can get away with calling me Narumi... I uh. I was at the market? And I got you..." she retrieves from her sleeve a small box and presents it to him, incredibly awkwardly, all the while staying on her side of the threshold.
A quick exhale out her nose.
"Can I come in?"

"Um... oh yeah... sure... Narumi-san." He smiles at the name and moves out of the door way, "But ya didn't have ta get me anything."

With an immediate raise of her brows and a cheshire grin, she ducks inside. "Thank you." She takes a moment to glance around, before holding the box out to him again, "It's not completely for you, if I've being honest. It's something for sharing."

Wait... am I supposed to refuse three times?

No, wait, offer three times so that means refuse four times?

No... no that ain't it.

Ok offer once, right.

They say no.

Offer second time, ok.

They say no.

Offer third time.

They take it - ok, ok so refuse twice.

Wait... was that first one a refusal?

Crap... crap... crap!

And if it's sharin' is it really a gift?

Uhhhhh.....

"I'm not sure if I'm supposedta say no or not?"

"Please don't say no," she's still holding out the box. "I think, in private, that's kind of handwaved?"

He looks to his hands for a moment before realizing and nodding, "Oh ya mean we don't need it. Right. Ummm, sure, then I won't say no."

She reddens further, and all but thrusts the box into his hands. "It's just mochi. Um. I thought it'd be a good cap to the day? Did I tell you that's my aunt's name? Um. Mochi, that is. She chose it.. um, as we do.. I suppose she thought it'd set others at ease. Since she's so intimidating.. it's sort of.. uh, well, here."

His eyes light up a little, "Oh, thanks!" He looks to the box and lets the rest of the words eventually sink in, "An interestin' choice for a name? Did it work?"
