There was a fervent scratching on the door.

"Luixian-san, are you in there? We have an urgent problem on our hands."

[Bayushi Luixian]

There was a long silence before finally a snarl ripped through the air. "Somebody better be dead to cause you to wake me up."

[Kitsu Moshumaru]

"From my understanding if we don't act fast, Seppun Unsei will either be dead or hostage in the Crane lands."

He held out a red strand of hair before returning it to his pocket.

"I found this on her windowsill and figured you either saw the kidnappers and couldn't pursue," he left out the alternative deliberately, "So I thought I'd see what you knew."

He then quickly bowed, obviously not in the greatest state of mind.

"Oh, and good morning Bayushi-san. Inari-sama's blessings and such."

[Bayushi Luixian]

When he entered her room to show her the strand of hair she whipped her head around so he wouldn't see her face. As fast as lightning she grabbed her mask and tied it into place. At least she had her sarashi and fundoshi on.

With her red hair tussled and looking more like the angry mane of a Lion the three eyed oni mask glared at him.

"That is sama to you." She snapped. It seems she was not happy to be woken up and barged in on when she didn't have her mask on. "Why would the Crane even want to kidnap the shit? Too annoying and not even worth anything but a headache."

[Kitsu Moshumaru]

"Right, -sama, my apologies." The Kitsu answered, more formally than meaningfully. There was a time when that mistake might have meant something, but not today. He had seen the mask before and, more than that, he had a purpose he would tear through the Crane lands again for.

"My guess is that they want to leverage her as a hostage to get Imperial intervention in the Lion-Crane war, but that's besides the point. Did you see her kidnappers or where they went? If not, I'll stop disturbing you and be on my way to the forest."

[Bayushi Luixian]

"Them." She corrected sternly. "To leverage them. See their kidnappers." Luixian might've been far past annoyed at their cousin but still cared for them. "Or it. It works better." Cared about them in some degree anyway.

"If they wanted to kidnap an Imperial for that reason then it would've been better to kidnap the one with a stick up his ass. More influence and status than Unsei-san. Shit even I've got more status than Unsei-san does."

She waved her right hand dismissively. "But go out running through the forest for them or whatever. I'm sure they're fine though. Lucky shit usually ends up fine."

[Kitsu Moshumaru]

"Look, Unsei's missing and I've been inside he-them more times than you've been at events so we can save the pronoun game for a second - people are at risk of dying."

He pushed aside his own frustrations, realized he was getting nowhere, and bowed.

"But I can see I've been misinformed - thank you for your time, Bayushi-sama. Whatever you sought when assigned here, I hope you found it. My door is open if you need to discuss anything."

Not waiting for an answer, he took his leave - stopping in his room for his yari and armour before heading back on the trail.

"For someone who brags about how often he's had his dick in a person, one would think he'd respect them enough to pay attention to the pronouns. Guess not though. Just another hole right?" Luixian shouted down the hallway as he walked out. She was not above doing such things.
