"Well", he looked thoughtful still, mouth frowning slightly in concentration. "The Shika will determine most of our fates in this, but...have you, that is...I suppose I'll just ask it simply. Do you like someone, or know of someone who is seeking you? It is something to consider, as the Shika would not be oblivious to it and it will likely affect their decision."

"Well none called onto me with letters and a heart moved by the fortune of marriage yet”, she said before looking at him, almost apologetically. “Not beyond a good man that I might hurt with my deeds.”

The Scorpion could not miss her meaning, and he felt he should make that understood.

"Some are unable to accept that we will hurt others, even people we care for. I feel poorly for that sort, unable to move simply because of possibility. I'd much rather apologize and understand, than have nothing ever said or done."

She looks down at her tea and seems to think for a silent moment

He put a hand on hers, needing to lean a little to do so.

"What you do is up to you, your actions. It's the same for me. After the talks we've had, you'd need to call me a fool to expect perfection, and you a villain to not honestly try."

He squeezed her hand then. "Hurt is real, and will come, it isn't only a possibility. Though what that hurt may be, and what is done about it, that can be chosen, the same as love."

"The bond between us is not one only desires of the flesh, but also a connection of standing side by side and being proud of one another, and this is, as we both know, also something that many a marriage lacks where both are cold and hateful to one another", she says softly in thoughts.

He took a risk, truly smiling at her. Yes, it was still the same flat, dead gaze but the more he thought the more some kind of flicker tried to show itself.

"You are a wise woman", he proclaimed. "And I'm glad to have met you, honored I could help you. I think you are right, I feel much the same way about it."

"It will not be the easiest road but I am willing to walk it at your side to see where it shall lead us." she says taking a deep breath .

Still holding her hand, he placed his tea cup on the table.

"I'll pray we get the chance", he told her, and took her cup, placing it down next to his. Then he took both of her hands on his. "Because you are someone worth walking the path with. Do not forget that."

She nods after a moment and smiles at him, squeezing his hand, and then after a moment raising her arm to put it around his shoulder, squeezing him again in this manner.
