[Day 10, EE, Edogawa's] Time for Dinner

[Kitsuki Edogawa]

The doors to his room had been opened wide, offering a pleasant view of the garden. Dinner waited on the table. It was simple fare, miso soup, rice and vegetables. Edogawa himself stood in the walkway outside, watching the garden while idly playing with his yo-yo.

[Moshi Shizuka]

Stopping outside the open doorway, Shizuka took in the mise-en-scène and pondered her place in it. Eventually, the desire for food did win out.

Bowing to the room's occupant, the Moshi announced herself in traditional and formulaic fashion. "Good evening, Kitsuki-san. I've arrived in response to your invitation. May I enter?"

[Kitsuki Edogawa]

"Of course, Moshi-san." he returned the bow. "I hope you don't mind the setting. It seemed preferable to the busyness of the common room. Please, make yourself comfortable."

[Moshi Shizuka]

"There is a pleasant intimacy to it." Shizuka observed, entering the room and taking a spot at the table.

"My apologies for having delayed this meeting. How have you been since last we met?"

[Kitsuki Edogawa]

"I am well, even if the tests continue to challenge me." he sat down. "How have your days been?"

[Moshi Shizuka]

"One seems to flow into the other towards the day when our hosts will match us with our intended." Shizuka remarked rather wistfully, taking in the sights outside.

"It is not so bad, though the persistent rain dampens my spirits. I am not familiar with Deer lands, so I don't know if this much rain in this season is, well, normal. It means changes in performing some of the rituals to Lady Amaterasu."

[Kitsuki Edogawa]

"My understanding is that it is a bit more than usual." he said as he poured them tea. "I'm not used to seeing this much, myself."

[Moshi Shizuka]

"Is that so?" Shizuka inquired, after having tried some of the meal lest it get cold. Or lest the mood of the host be similarly chilled by the lack of partaking.

"The mountains of the Dragon surely see rain, do they not? The popular image of them, shrouded by clouds and fog, thick at the feet with forests of bamboo..." A pause. "Though, one could live above such things, neh? That is certainly the case in some parts of the Valley."

[Kitsuki Edogawa]

"It does rain, yes." he nodded. "There's a risk of flooding and mudslides during heavy rains, but we don't get constant rain like this very often. Does it rain much in the Valley?"

[Moshi Shizuka]

"Enough to keep the crops watered." Shizuka ventured. "It's pleasant there, mostly: even when it rains, the sun shines through the clouds to remind us of the Lady Sun's grace."

"After all," The priestess said with the beginnings of a wry smirk, "that means the clouds are not that thick and the rain will not be overly harsh."
