"It is what compassion dictated." She kept her head low. "It is this one bears pain of those whose my hands could not safe." The girl mustered the courage to look at the Kitsu. Her face was very neutral. "This one is not just doesn't like to think about those dark days."

"Thinking about them isn't what is difficult Bai-chan. Accepting them is," he says quietly. "Those men are not haunting you, I would be able to tell you if they were. They've moved on and are at peace thanks to you. You are just haunting yourself with their memory, when they likely are thankful for the rest you were able to give them."

"I am glad that they have trascended." Slowly the Kaito mustered the courage to look him face to face. "Thank you Kitsu sama for telling me this. It helps this one to feel relief that they are passed to a better life."

"Of course," he said with a nod. "I do not know where they are, as that is for Emma-O to decide. But they are not lingering with you and so they do not blame you. Such spirits that haunt those they blame for their deaths are relentless and deeply unpleasant. I am glad that none are with you, and it only goes to prove the kindness to those you care for, even when they are beyond saving."

The Kaito nodded as she quietly ate some of the vegetables and drank some of the tea. The young maiden was relieved that those lives that she had taken because of compassion where at peace.

He took a few bites himself before speaking again. "Do you cook for those in your care as well? I've never been good at cooking but I do an alright job of eating."

She just shook her head. The girl just was quiet, pensive, and somewhat puzzled.

He sighed softly. He didn't know if she was looking for something specific from him, if she didn't wish to talk anymore or if she was still dwelling on dark memories. But he couldn't have a conversation with himself.

He was used to seeing the dead, and it made it all feel so much less final. That wasn't the case for everyone and so others tended to get more somber about it than him. He wondered if this was one of those times.

So instead of saying anything, he just reached across the table and took her hand gently and looked her in the eye. He didn't feel comfortable doing it, but she had done so earlier so he thought she'd be okay with it.

His action woke her from her reverie. The girl noted that she was being rude. Yet his warm hand comforted her even if it was improper at the view of many. "Ah..." The Kaito blushed lightly. "Arigatou..." she said softly. "I don't cook."
