He smiled at her. Well... I failed to do my best, even if I tried my best, he thinks to himself, splitting hairs mentally.

He accepted her taking his hand, squeezing gently in approval and that did a great deal to make him feel better.

"I am glad that you don't think poorly of me for my embarrassment. And I will do my best to prepare better. I don't often have such an issue with my voice. Usually it's a result of being nervous in front of an audience."

He smiles lightly. "I can't think of what would make me so nervous. Perhaps that I was trying to express what was in my heart to one of the most wonderful people I have known? Who also happens to be someone I would aspire to share family with?"

He also raises 3 fingers on the other hand.

"I will continue to try to express just how much you mean to me, every day that I can. I suspect that even if I sang more beautifully than I ever had before, it still wouldn't not be enough."

"You don't need to show this one such beauty." The young lady moved her hand to caress his cheek. "You don't need to impress this one with more talents than the ones you show." She smiled.
