"Nyaa." said Renjiro looking expectantly at the Phoenix.
"I don't speak cat. But it seems like you're in charge here."

Somehow. This place is weird.

"So, uh. A room?"

Renjiro walked down the hallway a bit, before pausing and turning around to look at the Phoenix expectantly.

Raizo followed the cat, conscious of the way his armor rattled and the clomp of the butt of his naginata on the floor.

I've gone insane. I never made it out of the woods. I'm stumbling around in the woods out of my mind.

Confident the Phoenix was following him Renjiro nimbly made his way past the Scorpion and Otter, and went five doors down beyond them.

He flopped in front of one of the doors, and reached a paw under, scratching at it until it popped open.

He crossed the threshold, turned around once more, and then did a feline stretch mimicking a servant bowing to welcome a samurai to their room.

"Nyaa"

"Uh... thanks."

Raizo hunkered down and pulled a bit of dried fish out of his obi.

"Here ya go."

Renjiro accepted the tip graciously, before scampering down the hall back to his table at the front of the inn, which he could lie upon until next needed.

Raizo entered the room and tried to remember what the protocol was about dumping one's armor on the floor.

Probably frowned upon, but so is wearing the stuff and stomping around with a polearm.

by Kuni Yasu
Renjiro's really earning his catnaps today as another pair of samurai show up. Yasu's got her pack hooked over one shoulder as her naginata thumps on the steps as she comes up to the door.

"Hardly anyone here, see? Wouldn't have made a hair of difference getting up at moonset to make it here at dawn." She looks over to her companion. "Anyway, keep an eye out, neh? They were looking way too long at papers. I don't trust what kinds of things that gate guard was looking for. It's a simple miai, and they've already got a list ahead of time...check, check, done...no need to dig all through where you've been last and who signed everything unless you're digging for something."

To be fair, Daichi's noticed Yasu's suspicions triggered by at least one person almost every place they've stopped this trip. From the stablehand who didn't look grungy enough, to the geisha who couldn't carry a tune (but by Benten, she could dance!).

by Hida Daichi
The other traveler following the Kuni was a tad bit shorter but built broad and strong. This Hida had a loosely tied topknot and a tired expression. Whether it was from general travel or otherwise was up for debate.

This was the first time Daichi had any prolonged contact with a Kuni. Before now, she thought that surely the paranoia her fellow Crab family were said to have had to be a huge overstatement. But Yasu had proven to be just as suspicious of others as Daichi had been warned about.

“They’re trying to be thorough. This is kind of a big deal to the Deer, right? They don’t want anything to go wrong so double checking at the border crossing or city gates is expected.” Daichi tried explaining, but she knew it was likely pointless.

Renjiro looked up at the pair of Crabs curiously.
