"I'm afraid I'm very boring," Kiyonobu said with half a laugh. "I'm partial to shiragiku; not for mourning, but rather for their purity and truth."

[Kaito Oubaihime]

"I associate shirayuri more with death and mourning than shiragiku" The Kaito nodded. "Everyone has something interesting. As you said it may be a flower associated with death yet you gave it your own meaning. That is not boring but creative, Dragon sama."

[Kitsuki Kiyonobu]

Kiyonobu offered a slight bow. "Kaito-san is kind to say so," he replied. "It is interesting that common symbols often have many meanings. The true meaning is often revealed by context."

[Kaito Oubaihime]

"I just wonder who comes up with the meaning?" She wondered.

[Kitsuki Kiyonobu]

"Each of us must discern the meaning of such things in our own way," he replied. "Sometimes many of us may agree on the meaning of a certain flower, a certain heraldic banner, and so on. Sometimes not."

"For example, all of us should agree on the meaning of the character for 三," he suggested. "But different people might reasonably disagree on the meaning of a meteor seen at night in the constellation of the Lion. Why do you think that is?"

[Kaito Oubaihime]

"Perspectives sama... location and clan." She nodded. "It is like the invocations of the shugenja not all use the same ritual to get the same spell."

[Kitsuki Kiyonobu]

"Indeed?" Kiyonobu asked, his interest piqued. "I am no shugenja, but I had thought perhaps each ritual was the same, like each scholar's copy of a book is the same. Do you mean that each is different, more like each cook's recipe for soup is different?"

[Kaito Oubaihime]

"Hai, Dragon sama... my invocation for air is quite different to those of the Isawa. The Agasha way of invocating the fire would be different from the Moshi... and so on. There are suggestions to what to put in the water to make the soup but it is up to each chef to make the creation unique."

[Kitsuki Kiyonobu]

"How interesting," Kiyonobu commented, intrigued by this thought. "I had not realized the style of each family was so distinctive. So you could tell at a glance which school a shugenja was trained in, by the way they invoke the elements? Much like how a swordsman trained in a particular school could be identified by their stance?"

[Kaito Oubaihime]

"Ah... hai..." She nodded. "Just like that."
