[D0, LA] Late Afternoon is for Tea (Open)

Hikimasu lacked the annoyance to roll his eyes, which was good. No matter how strange this person could be, Unsei was still a Seppun and it wouldn't do. So moving forward, as if nothing had happened, he sipped tea again.

"So books with more adventure are to Seppun-sama's liking? Does that come from having to study too many serious works to learn astrology?"

[Seppun Unsei]

"I don't actually like reading in my spare time. It's nothing to do with the type of genre of the book and more so that I just don't find it able to keep my attention regardless." While he wasn't quite under Unsei's skin, the lighthearted playfulness that they had earlier had dissipated, leaving their words plain and Unsei now interested in the tea cup more than the Scorpion.

Well, this was what he was used to, at least. A few minutes into a conversation and the other party doesn't want to be there anymore. It was kind of a relief, really.

"Sure, books aren't for everyone, though I don't know anyone who falls off towers in their spare time until I met you, so I was interested in what else you are up to."

[Seppun Unsei]

"Wasn't a tower, thank you very much. It was just a tree. Just about the only tree out there, but a tree regardless. I was dared to climb it by my cousin who had also arrived in Shiro Kuni alongside a few others who were there for a few lessons in identifying the darker stuff they'd be facing on the Wall and what the Astrologers would need to know about to help better protect the Emperor." They took a sip of their tea, working on soothing their nerves after that bit of testy waters.

"Your cousin fulfills the proper amount of trouble causing for a youth, did you get back at them somehow?" he asked, hoping it was so, and that it would be good.

[Seppun Unsei]

"I did, but it was a lot more mean spirited, which I thought was fitting since I broke my toe. It also took a lot of planning on my end. I pulled some strings and managed to get a ton of quail sent down to Shiro Kuni as a gift from the Imperials as a thank you for training some of their students. My cousin has a pet quail. Once the quail arrived, some months later, the day that they got here and the feast was planned, I stole her pet. Hid the little thing well, which isn't difficult since they're pretty dumb birds and will sit in one spot for some time if it's their favorite blanket they're sitting on." They chuckled some.

"She spent the whole day tearing the castle apart looking for this dumb quail of hers, thinking it was probably being roasted. But, right before the feast, I released the quail back into her room and she thought the stupid thing got stuck in the wall or something where she couldn't see it. To this day, she has never realized that I was the one who did it. At least I think. She is a Scorpion so she probably pulled some strings to figure out who ordered so many quail."

And people tell me i create convoluted situations...

Still, it took much, so he could at least appreciate Unsei's devotion to a gag.

He was also glad Yūdaina was big and hard to hide.

"I see Imperials take their vendettas seriously, remind me to become your friend." He bowed.

[Seppun Unsei]

"I was very upset that I broke my toe. I was so worried that it would heal crooked and I'd be known as Seppun Crooked Toe Unsei. Do you know how terrible that would've been? I would've always had to wear shoes." They shook their head. "That can't happen. Though! Always happy to make friends, and uh... closer than friends, too."

I see, well, we are at a miai.

He wondered why they came on so strong though, was it a trick of some kind, or where they simply so used to misfortune they overcompensate with very obvious language to make sure no one can miss it?

Being a Seppun seems to have a lot of responsibility, but also a wide amount of leeway.

He nodded. "I would think so, aren't we all looking for someone here? We've marginally discussed it already, but I have to say I'm further curious if Seppun-sama has come across anyone else worth complimenting so thoroughly."

[Seppun Unsei]

"So far? I mean, I have met one other that I'm already planning on, ah, having some fun with, but I doubt he'll make good husband material. Likely his clan will keep him close. He is sweet though, and kind." They tilted their head some.

"And what about you? Surely you've met others here who have displayed some interest in you already."
