Shika Kan, having prepared for yet another day of teaching went over their papers one last time before the class arrived. They'd been informed of the addition of a particular student. He was a very forthright student, but where others grasp spiritual concepts easily, Nesshin was firmly rooted in the material world. And now those two traits had landed him more lecturing. Kan had wanted to protest. There was hardly any chance of Nesshin learning anything from the actual lesson. But Katsuteru had a different sort of education in mind, so Kan hadn't.

Kan took in the sight of the broom with a small internal sigh. Guessing it was somehow tied to their punishment rather than their magical means of conveyance to class, they thought it best not to comment on it.
Instead they bowed in return.

There was little enough time for talk as the rest of the class filed in, all having just begun their training. Nesshin and his broom stood as a mountain among a horde of pebbles. Pebbles with curious looks at this sudden addition to the class.

"And who can tell us more about what they look like?"

"They look like little kids, wearing kimonos, wooden sandals, and wide brimmed straw hats." said the boy helpfully.

"Playing in the rain, and the look of people when they're wet." volunteered a girl.
"And what's the most dangerous thing about them, class?"
"Never steal their hat!" they piped up as one.
