Sometimes, Raizo's bluntness made him wince. This... wasn't one of those times.

"Hm. One would argue Shiba-san that it is very hard to judge yourself if you do not compare yourself to the best. And perhaps your clan sees something in you that you do not if they've sent you here." she replies.

"Far as I know they saw an unwed only child of a bloodline dating back to the time of Shiba-Kami in a dangerous line of work. Or perhaps they regarded moving a dead horse as the sort of feat to impress someone into marrying into the Phoenix. Certainly it can't be my history of working with ronin mercenaries or living in a tent like a vagrant. Did you know, Shika-sama, that until settling into my room at the Inn that I hadn't slept inside of a building since right around my gempukku?"

"I hope that it was worth the wait going without for so long." she said, referencing sleeping at an inn. "But in the end, Shiba-san, it doesn't truly matter to you why you're here. It just matters that you are here. When given such an opportunity, what do you make of it?"

"But I think I've taken entirely too much of your time as it is, Shika-sama. You have, after all, plenty of other worried young fools to manage. Can't say I envy you the balancing act you need to manage every time you have one of these."
