Kyuden Shika

Narumi had waited long enough, and things had not gone well for her in her tardiness. As such, it was her duty to attempt at making things right.
Though nothing she could likely do could help her now, but so be it.
Dressed in her best kimono, in shades of light green and brown, with brilliant blue stitching, and a fine hair pin tucked into a simple bun she wore at the nape of her neck, she scratched at Shika Pei Pei's door and waited.

"Please come in." came the reply.

Pei Pei had just been finishing her morning tea when the Otter entered.

Pei Pei offered a bow.

"Ah good morning, Usogawa-san. I was just getting ready to head to the Great Hall for today's event. Is there something you need?" she asked politely.

She entered, and bowed deeply. Upon rising, she looks suitable somber.
"I apologize for taking your time this early in the morning, Shika-sama. I wanted to check in with you, as I understand I'm in somewhat of a precarious position, as a matchmaker myself among the Otter clan, this one wants to makes clear she would never try to assume she knows the will of the Deer, or step on any toes regarding matches the Deer might choose. You are infinitely more wise than this one, Shika-sama..." she bowed again.

Pei Pei studied Narumi. She seemed rather calm, if curious.

"I see, Usogawa-san. Has something happened that would cause you to think that you had done so to necessitate you see me first thing in the morning?" she asked.

"I wanted to make right any embarrassment I may have brought unto myself, and soothe any misgivings Shika-sama might have in regards to my belonging here, or the gift Shika-sama would give this one by providing a harmonious match," Narumi lowered her gaze differentially.

Pei Pei frowned a bit. The answers struck her as a bit evasive.

"I have no misgivings about you being here, Usogawa-san. If you were not meant to be at this miai, you would not have been invited. As for the apology....well, while I understand not wanting to cause oneself embarrassment, an apology really should be for a specific grievance. Such a blanket apology does tend to come off as...well rather insincere. I hope that you cause no embarrassment, and if you do, you have the courage to be forthright about your mistakes." she offered as a bit of advice.

She swallowed a lump in her throat, and made sure to keep her expression a neutral one as she righted herself to standing.
"Thank you, I will endeavor to take your wisdom to heart." She paused for a moment. "And again I wanted to express my gratitude at being chosen for an invitation to your miai. It's a great honour."

Shika Pei Pei returned the bow politely.

"Of course, Usogawa-san. Would you care to walk with me to the Great Hall this morning?" she asked.

"I wouldn't dream of refusing Shika-sama anything she asks of me. Of course."

Paying no mind to the Otters internal strife, Pei Pei nods primly.

"Shal we go then?"
