Aimi, for her part, is seemingly rather under the weather this morning. Still she does her part to participate, sitting down opposite her opponents with a polite smile and a slightly raspy greeting.

Her first opponent is a beginner, to be true, and she feels slightly bad for him to be pitted against these young and eager candidates. That doesn't stop her from overwhelming and not-quite-crushing him, however, scoring a clean if somewhat unexceptional victory.

Her second opponent, a casual player, is a little more cautious. And yet Aimi defeats him even so, in virtually the same way as the rank beginner, reading the faint clues in his eyes and face that tell of what he has noticed and what he has missed.

And then finally, the intermediate player, the one with experience and dedicated practice under their belt. Here Aimi stumbles for a moment, seeming to make a mistake and tense up... but no! She has simply provoked the foe into trying to cut her down before they are truly ready, and with a cunning manoeuvre of her own, secures victory.

Tired and drained, but clearly pleased with her performance, the Ronin bows politely to her opponents and the judges before departing. She really needs to go sleep off whatever is sapping her energy.

Bo had never had much of a mind for games - especially games that require extended thought and planning such as Go. But, regardless of those concerns, he had been sent to do his best and thus he would fulfill his duty. Thankfully the Daidoji had taught him something of tactics and, while he would never be a commander... or at least should never be a commander, it gave him some idea of what to do.

And what to do was the same as his duty - stand firm, hold the ground, block the advance, and tire out the enemy until they have exhausted themselves.

Against the beginner this was easy enough as they grew increasingly frustrated at his blocking maneuvers and refusal to commit to an offensive, eventually becoming sloppy and losing too much ground.

The next opponent was tougher as they could see Bo's tactics for what they were. Thankfully, however, they also assumed that there must be some greater stratagem in play - some ruse or feint - and played too defensively themselves leaving things near deadlocked but with Bo eventually squeaking out ahead.

The final opponent, by all rights, should have been victorious. They were skilled enough to see Bo's actions and also not to see too much into them. Perhaps it was the will of the Fortunes, perhaps they just chose to go easy on Bo, perhaps it was pure dumb luck... or perhaps they were thrown when an apparently talented opponent who had made it that far commented "Hmmm, this is kinda fun, maybe I should learn ta play sometime."

But, in the end, Bo was victorious in all matches though it stretched him to his limits and came as much a surprise to him as any he faced during the day.

Soyokaze was in a poor mood and failed to see the point of this test, his only concern being how quickly he could get to his forge. He was not a good Go player and agitated so he settled on a rather fast paced strategy that his older brother used often against him; Feint and Kill. The first game went exactly as it had when used against him, poorly for the young Shika, but when he reached the second match he was caught off guard, somehow his opponent had seen it coming and countered easily. Soyokaze was left flummoxed and after surrendering stormed out of the hall.

Zang nodded with some small satisfaction as the event drew to a close. "Good, good! I hope that if the weather continues to be unfavorable, some of you find a new passion in go to spend time with each other. When you're not training in the dojo that is!"
